1. Technology overview
TrusTrace is a Swedish company founded in 2016 and headquartered in Stockholm, with staff in India, the United States and Italy. It provides a traceability and compliance platform for fashion and footwear brands that need to know who makes their products and where raw materials come from.
The platform maps multi-tier suppliers, digitises transaction and scope certificates and follows chain of custody from raw material to finished goods. Its EUDR module records farm or forest coordinates for each shipment of leather, rubber or wood-based viscose bound for the EU, assesses risk and drafts due diligence statements. Customers include ASICS, Hugo Boss, ASOS and KappAhl.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Supplier mapping: Multi-tier supplier networks are mapped from finished goods to raw materials.
- Certificate management: Transaction and scope certificates are digitised and validated, including through the FSC API.
- Chain of custody: Material flows are traced through each production step.
- EUDR module: Plot or forest coordinates are attached to each EU-bound shipment.
- Risk assessment: Deforestation and compliance risks are evaluated per supplier and shipment.
- DDS submission: Due diligence statements are prepared and linked to the EU information system via API.
3. Potential application
Vietnamese garment and footwear factories can upload certificates and material flows requested by brands using TrusTrace. Leather and rubber suppliers can provide plot geolocation for EUDR. Exporters can prepare for upcoming textile digital product passport requirements.
4. Benefits
Brands gain visibility beyond tier 1 suppliers down to raw material sources. Digitised certificates and chain-of-custody records reduce manual document checks. Shipment-level geolocation and risk assessment simplify EUDR due diligence statements. One data set supports several regulations, including ESPR, CSDDD and forced labour rules.
5. Market trends & opportunities
EU rules such as EUDR, ESPR digital product passports and CSDDD, together with US forced labour enforcement, are pushing fashion brands to demand verified supply chain data from their manufacturers. Vietnam is one of the largest garment and footwear exporters, so factories and material suppliers increasingly need to share traceability data in the formats their brand customers use.
6. Other information
Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. In January 2024 TrusTrace announced a 24 million USD growth investment led by Circularity Capital; other investors include Industrifonden and Backing Minds. In February 2025 it joined the Textile Exchange Trackit pilot on traceability interoperability.
