1. Technology overview
Movel AI is a Singapore robot deployment software start-up founded in 2016 and backed by Silicon Solution Ventures, 500 Global, SGInnovate, Seeds Capital and Enterprise Singapore. It cuts the time, cost and training needed to put mobile robots to work, serving both robot hardware makers and end users in logistics, manufacturing, construction and healthcare.
Movel RNS is a robot navigation system for deploying a single mobile robot through a user-friendly interface, with no infrastructure changes. Movel FMS manages fleets of over 100 mobile robots in one interface and adds performance analytics on tasks completed, distance travelled and robot utilisation. Hardware partners include ROSATI in Taiwan, whose NRS-300 AGV runs Movel software, and Tugbot by RoboSavvy in Portugal. Movel AI also delivers custom warehouse automation projects such as autonomous forklifts.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Movel RNS: navigation and deployment software for a single mobile robot.
- No infrastructure change: robots navigate without tapes or markers on the floor.
- Movel FMS: one interface to deploy and coordinate more than 100 mobile robots.
- Performance analytics: tracks tasks executed, distance travelled and robot utilisation.
- Hardware-agnostic integration: plugs into existing robot systems from partner manufacturers.
- Custom automation: tailored hardware and software projects such as autonomous forklifts.
3. Potential application
A Vietnamese AGV maker can license Movel RNS to add SLAM-style navigation to its vehicles. A pharmaceutical or electronics plant can automate forklift moves in its warehouse with a Movel-led project. A 3PL running robots from several vendors can monitor utilisation in Movel FMS.
4. Benefits
Lets operators without a robotics background run mobile robots after minimal training. Works with existing robot hardware and software, so robot makers can ship navigation and fleet features without building them in-house. In the Amgen Manufacturing Singapore project, autonomous forklifts cut labour costs by USD 70,000 a year and saved 4,000 man-hours annually. Free 15-day trials are offered for RNS and FMS.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Many regional AGV and AMR makers lack mature navigation and fleet software, and end users want to mix robots from several brands. Licensable navigation stacks and fleet managers shorten time to market for local robot builders, including emerging manufacturers in Vietnam.
6. Other information
