1. Technology overview
FaceNet is a Hanoi-based Vietnamese technology company that builds AI and production management software for factories, including the FCIM manufacturing management system, AI quality inspection, face recognition, AI PTZ cameras and maritime monitoring. Its customers and partners include Rang Dong, MK Smart, MK Vision and Viettel.
The FaceNet AI Box is an edge AI device rated at up to 12 TOPS that turns existing IP cameras into smart cameras. It connects to RTSP and ONVIF cameras, runs analytics locally around the clock without depending on the internet, and offers face recognition with known and unknown person alerts, people counting and movement tracking, smoke and fire detection, fall detection and custom-trained models. A web console configures cameras, and events are sent to third-party systems through web API, MQTT and Modbus, with the option to extend to FaceNet Cloud AI.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Edge processing: up to 12 TOPS of on-device AI running 24/7 without internet.
- Face recognition: separates known and unknown people and triggers alert scenarios per person.
- People analytics: real-time counting, movement tracking, density and behaviour analysis.
- Smoke and fire detection: video analytics for early fire warnings.
- Fall detection and custom models: detects falls and can be trained for items such as door status or livestock.
- Integration: web API, MQTT and Modbus outputs plus RTSP and ONVIF camera support.
3. Potential application
A factory can detect smoke and fire in warehouses and alert its building management system over Modbus. An apartment building can flag unknown visitors at entrances. A nursing home or hospital can detect patient falls and notify staff immediately.
4. Benefits
Existing RTSP and ONVIF cameras are reused, so adding AI does not require replacing the camera network. Local processing keeps latency low, keeps video on site and continues working during internet outages. Video-based smoke and fire detection is positioned to warn earlier than conventional sensors. MQTT and Modbus outputs let alerts trigger automation and building systems.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Vietnamese factories, apartment buildings and hospitals have large CCTV networks that are rarely analysed, while fire safety and data privacy rules are tightening. Edge AI boxes that add analytics to existing cameras and keep video on premises offer a lower-cost path than cloud video analytics or full camera replacement.
6. Other information
FaceNet is headquartered on the 3rd floor of HUD3 Tower, 121-123 To Hieu, Ha Dong, Hanoi. Its FCIM production management system won the Sao Khue 2024 award for industrial production software, and it kicked off an MES deployment at Manutronic in July 2026. Named partners include Rang Dong, MK Smart, MK Vision, Viet Nhat Tan and Viettel.
