1. Technology overview
VICOSTONE is a Vietnamese engineered stone manufacturer and part of the Phenikaa Group, established in December 2002 at Hoa Lac High-Tech Park, Hanoi. It produces quartz-based surfaces as a durable, low-maintenance alternative to natural stone, laminate and solid surface for kitchens, bathrooms and commercial interiors.
The company operates 7 production lines using technology transferred from Breton S.p.A. of Italy, with capacity of about 3.5 million m2 per year. Its slabs contain about 90% natural quartz aggregate and come in more than 150 colours across the Exotic, Natural and Classic collections. A 3D visualizer, partner portal and global distributor network support architects, fabricators and developers. Products are sold in more than 50 countries, with regional sites in the US, Canada, Australia, India, Taiwan, Japan and China.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Quartz composition: about 90% natural quartz aggregate with Mohs hardness of 6 to 7.
- Three collections: Exotic, Natural and Classic ranges with more than 150 colours and designs.
- Food and lab safety: NSF/ANSI 51 certified and resistant to microbial growth under ASTM D6329.
- Low emissions: GREENGUARD and GREENGUARD Gold certified, with a Declare label for Red List compliance.
- 3D Visualizer: online tool to preview surfaces in sample rooms before specification.
- Partner portal: ProSite portal for fabricators, distributors and project partners.
3. Potential application
Apartment and townhouse developers can specify quartz kitchen and bathroom countertops across large projects. Hospitals, laboratories and central kitchens can use NSF-certified surfaces for hygienic work areas. Hotel and office fit-out contractors can use GREENGUARD Gold surfaces to support green building certification.
4. Benefits
Slabs have compressive strength of at least 155 MPa, flexural strength above 40 MPa and water absorption of 0.02% or less, so they resist stains and do not need periodic sealing. NSF/ANSI 51 certification allows use in laboratories, healthcare facilities and food preparation areas. GREENGUARD Gold certification supports low indoor emissions in schools and offices. More than 150 designs give developers wide choice from one local manufacturer.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Demand for engineered surfaces is growing with high-rise housing, hotels and commercial fit-outs in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, while green building programmes such as LEED and LOTUS reward low-emitting interior materials. Buyers also prefer locally made materials that shorten lead times compared with imported natural stone.
