1. Technology overview
Neuron Digital was incubated within Arup Hong Kong in 2018 and later became a joint venture between Arup and Venturous Group. Headquartered in Hong Kong Science Park with an R&D centre in Shenzhen, it provides smart building management software that unifies data from diverse hardware so owners can cut energy use and meet ESG goals.
The Neuron platform combines a building digital twin with 3D dashboards, an IoT Hub, an energy management system for electricity, water and gas with carbon accounting, smart facility and asset management, maintenance scheduling, AI video analysis and an AI suite for HVAC and chiller optimisation and automated reporting. It integrates with BMS, BACnet and IoT devices. A smart data centre line adds AI cooling optimisation and integrated cabinets. Clients include offices, hotels, hospitals, campuses, industrial sites and data centres.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Building digital twin: custom 3D scenes and live dashboards that visualise building and equipment data.
- Energy management: real-time electricity, water and gas monitoring with carbon accounting and automated environmental reports.
- Neuron AI: AI-driven HVAC and chiller optimisation, predictions and prompt-based report generation.
- IoT Hub: custom IoT dashboards and smart scenarios across sensors and devices.
- Smart FM and asset management: maintenance schedules, task tracking and full life-cycle asset records.
- Smart data centre: AI cooling optimisation, monitoring and integrated cabinets to lower PUE.
3. Potential application
Mixed-use complexes and office towers in Vietnam can consolidate BMS, meters and maintenance into one digital twin and track energy and carbon per floor. Hospitals and universities can monitor HVAC and utilities across many buildings. Banks and telecom operators can manage edge data centres and server rooms with AI cooling optimisation.
4. Benefits
Neuron reports about 15% HVAC energy savings with a return on investment in 1.5 to 2 years. Real-time monitoring of electricity, water and gas reveals waste and anomalies, while automated data collection and environmental reports reduce manual ESG work. An open platform lets owners keep control of their data across existing BMS and IoT systems.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Building owners in Asia are moving from separate BMS, metering and facility tools to unified platforms that combine digital twins, AI and ESG reporting. Growing data centre capacity in Southeast Asia, PUE targets and green building rules add demand for software that links energy data with operations and carbon accounting.
6. Other information
Incubated within Arup Hong Kong in 2018, with its first digital twin project at the Water Cube in Beijing; Arup and Venturous Group are investors. Headquartered in Hong Kong Science Park with R&D in Shenzhen, it reports 800+ digitalised buildings in 9 cities across 6 countries and 30+ enterprise clients. In October 2026 it received the BSI Kitemark for Digital Twins.
