1. Technology overview
Pathzero Pty Ltd was founded in January 2020 in Sydney by Carl Prins and Charbel Ayoub within the Antler incubation hub. It started by helping companies calculate carbon emissions and has evolved into a climate risk management platform for institutional investors facing Australia's mandatory, ISSB-aligned climate reporting.
The platform ingests holdings from custodians, fund administrators and internal systems and connects to a disclosure network of more than 550 fund managers representing about $4.5 trillion in assets, so asset owners can collect emissions data from private markets. It adds public markets data from S&P Global, MSCI and Morningstar Sustainalytics and composes everything into reporting units with ownership shares across funds, covering financed emissions, physical climate risk, scenario analysis and IFRS S2-style audit-ready reporting. Customers include Aware Super, HESTA, StepStone, IFM Investors and Roc Partners.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Holdings ingestion: imports data from custodians, fund administrators and portfolio systems.
- Private markets network: disclosure links to 550+ fund managers for look-through emissions data.
- Public markets data: integrated feeds from S&P Global, MSCI and Morningstar Sustainalytics.
- Reporting units: aggregates holdings with ownership percentages across funds.
- Physical risk and scenarios: assesses physical climate risk and runs scenario analysis.
- Audit-ready disclosure: IFRS S2-oriented outputs with CSV export.
3. Potential application
A Vietnamese fund manager or insurer with international limited partners can calculate financed emissions across listed and private holdings. A pension or investment fund can assess physical climate risk in its real estate and infrastructure assets. A bank's sustainability team can prepare ISSB-aligned climate disclosures with auditable data.
4. Benefits
Asset owners can gather emissions data from hundreds of private market managers through one network instead of spreadsheets and emails. Public and private holdings are combined in a single auditable view with ownership-based attribution. ISO/IEC 27001 certification and SOC 2 Type 2 attestation support due diligence by large funds, and CSV export and scenario analysis feed directly into mandatory disclosures.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Regulators across Asia-Pacific are adopting ISSB-based climate disclosure for financial institutions, and asset owners must report financed emissions that include hard-to-reach private markets. In Vietnam, banks, insurers and funds face rising expectations from international investors and the State Bank on climate risk management.
