1. Technology overview
Sarvam AI, legally Axonwise Private Limited, is a Bengaluru company founded in 2023 by Vivek Raghavan, who helped build India's Aadhaar digital ID system, and Pratyush Kumar, former lead of AI4Bharat. It builds a full-stack sovereign AI platform so that banks, insurers, lenders and public agencies can serve users in local languages with models trained and hosted under their control.
The platform combines its own models for speech recognition, text-to-speech, translation and document digitisation with ready-made Voice Agents, Doc Agents, Work Agents and Coding Agents, plus Indus Cowork, an agent workspace connected to 100+ apps. Everything is exposed through a REST API and Python SDK and can run on Sarvam Cloud, a private VPC, on-premises or air-gapped. Customers include Tata Capital, Axis Bank, SBI Life, LIC and Infosys.
