1. Technology overview
Rotomate Oy is a Helsinki company founded in 2024 by Mikko Kuusisto and Jesse Miettinen. It targets process industries where vibration analysts cannot review every machine, so developing faults on rotating equipment are often missed by simple threshold alarms.
Rotomate acts as an AI colleague on top of existing condition monitoring systems. It combines vibration data from any sensor with process and maintenance data, ranks every machine by priority in an asset-level view, identifies developing faults and recommends actions while showing the spectrum and trend behind each finding. AI Colleague 2.0 adds conversation, so planners can ask what to check at the next shutdown and push work tickets to the CMMS. No new hardware is needed. Customers include Metsä Group, SSAB and Aurubis.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Fleet-wide triage: real-time asset-level view that ranks every machine by priority.
- Fault detection: identifies developing faults on rotating equipment from vibration, process and maintenance data.
- Explainable findings: shows the spectrum and trend behind each recommendation.
- Conversational AI: AI Colleague 2.0 answers plain-language questions with reasoning shown.
- CMMS hand-off: sends work tickets to CMMS, EAM and ERP systems.
- Sensor-agnostic: works with existing sensors and data types, no new hardware.
3. Potential application
A pulp and paper mill in Vietnam can let AI review hundreds of vibration channels daily and flag priority machines. A steel plant can prepare shutdown checklists by asking the system which assets need inspection. A chemical plant can link findings directly to work orders in its CMMS.
4. Benefits
Rotomate reports 83% less time spent on manual monitoring and up to 8% production improvement based on internal analysis. At Metsä Group, a specialist says the tool reviews almost 1,000 vibration signals in 10 to 15 minutes and caught a bearing fault that threshold monitoring missed. Because it uses existing sensors, deployment is fast and a free trial runs on the customer's own machines.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Many plants already collect vibration data but lack analysts to review it, so value is shifting from sensors to AI that triages findings and explains them. Pulp and paper, steel and chemical plants in Vietnam that have installed online monitoring can use such copilots to cover more assets without hiring more specialists.
6. Other information
Rotomate Oy was founded in 2024 in Helsinki and has around ten employees. In June 2026 it closed a EUR 2.1 million pre-seed round led by Kvanted with Robin Capital, Angel Invest, Accel's scout programme and Business Finland, and it has a sales pipeline in Northern and Western Europe.
