1. Technology overview
Kinéis is a satellite IoT operator created in 2018 and based in Ramonville-Saint-Agne near Toulouse, France. It provides low-data connectivity from anywhere on Earth so that companies and public bodies can track, monitor and receive alerts from assets far from terrestrial networks.
Kinéis built and launched 25 nanosatellites in under a year, completing its low Earth orbit constellation with the fifth launch in March 2025, and officially launched commercial services in June 2025. Small connected devices send short messages to the constellation for tracking, monitoring and alerting. Deployments include Dryad Networks' Silvanet forest fire sensors, CLS Nemo for small-scale fisheries and herd monitoring, rail freight tracking with Europorte, and vessel tracking (AIS) data partnerships.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Global LEO constellation: 25 nanosatellites dedicated to IoT, completed in March 2025.
- Low-data messaging: short messages for tracking, monitoring and alerting.
- Disaster prevention: supports fire, flood, drought and pollution monitoring.
- Maritime and AIS: vessel tracking data and small-scale fishery solutions.
- Logistics tracking: rail freight and container tracking deployments.
- Partner network: integrators and distributors in Europe and Asia-Pacific, including Vietnam.
3. Potential application
Fishing cooperatives and seafood exporters in Vietnam can track boats to support traceability requirements. Forest management boards can deploy fire sensors in remote national parks. Logistics firms can monitor containers and rail wagons across regions with patchy coverage.
4. Benefits
Assets can be tracked and monitored anywhere on Earth, including oceans, forests and deserts. Low-data messaging keeps devices small and power-efficient for long deployments. The company reports connected objects growing from about 20,000 toward nearly 50,000 within twelve months, with nearly 700 Silvanet fire sensors under trial. A Vietnamese partner, OSB, supports local deployment.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Climate risks such as wildfires, floods and droughts drive demand for sensors in places with no mobile coverage. Fisheries and maritime regulation require better vessel tracking. Vietnam's long coastline, fishing fleets and flood-prone river basins match these use cases closely.
6. Other information
Created in 2018 with headquarters at 11 rue Hermès, Ramonville-Saint-Agne, France. Commercial services launched on 2 June 2025 with an exclusive Southeast Asia distribution deal with WMG Limited. Targets profitability in 2026 with expected revenue of 18 million EUR; partners include OSB (Vietnam), Network Innovation and Netmore.
