1. Technology overview
ProLogium is an energy company founded in 2006 by Vincent Yang that develops and manufactures lithium ceramic batteries, holding more than 1,100 granted and pending patents. It targets the safety and charging limits of conventional lithium-ion cells, whose flammable liquid electrolytes and graphite anodes constrain fast charging and thermal stability in EVs and industrial uses.
Its latest platform combines a superfluidized all-inorganic electrolyte with SGS-verified ionic conductivity of 57 mS/cm at 25 C, a 100% ceramic separator made by roll-to-roll coating and a 100% silicon composite anode rated at 1,800-2,300 mAh/g. Packaging architectures such as Logithium, Bi-Cell and BiPolar+ reduce cell count and wiring. Cells are produced at a GWh-class gigafactory in Taoyuan, Taiwan inaugurated in 2024, with a Dunkirk, France gigafactory under development, for automakers, Tier 1 suppliers and industrial customers.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- All-inorganic electrolyte: non-flammable superfluidized electrolyte with 57 mS/cm ionic conductivity at 25 C.
- Ceramic separator: 100% inorganic oxide separator produced by roll-to-roll coating.
- Silicon composite anode: 1,800-2,300 mAh/g capacity versus about 360 mAh/g for graphite.
- Anode-less option: Gen 4 variant with ultra-thin lithium metal at 430-470 Wh/kg.
- BiPolar+ and MAB packaging: direct series-parallel stacking that cuts cell count and wiring.
- GWh-scale production: Taoyuan gigafactory in operation and Dunkirk plant under development.
3. Potential application
Vietnamese EV and electric bus makers could evaluate ProLogium cells in co-development programmes for fast-charging, high-safety packs. Energy storage integrators could test non-flammable cells for installations in dense urban buildings or data centres where fire risk is a key concern.
4. Benefits
ProLogium reports 1.56 times higher specific energy, 80% charge in 6.4 minutes for its Gen 4 design in a 400V system and stable performance at -20 C, with over 1,000 fast-charging cycles. Its non-flammable inorganic electrolyte and ceramic separator are designed to block short circuits and thermal runaway, and the company cites an estimated 5-10% pack cost reduction versus conventional lithium-ion.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Automakers and storage integrators are looking for batteries that charge faster and resist thermal runaway, driving interest in solid-state and inorganic electrolytes and silicon-rich anodes. Asian EV markets with hot climates, including Southeast Asia, place particular weight on battery safety for two-wheelers, buses and storage systems.
6. Other information
