1. Technology overview
WELT Corp. is a Seoul-based digital therapeutics company with a German subsidiary, WELT therapeutics GmbH, in Munich. It develops prescription software therapies and drug-linked digital treatments on its DrugOS platform, targeting conditions such as insomnia and eating disorders where access to cognitive behavioural therapy is limited.
SleepQ delivers a six-week cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) programme prescribed by a doctor. Patients keep a daily sleep diary, receive a personalised sleep window updated weekly, complete learning modules and relaxation exercises, and get check-in calls from a care centre; clinicians review results at the end. SleepQ received Korean MFDS approval in April 2023, was designated an innovative medical device, and gained CE marking under the MDR in 2025.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Six-week CBT-I programme: structured therapy delivered through a prescribed app.
- Sleep diary: daily logging of bedtime, wake time and sleep quality.
- Adaptive sleep window: personalised sleep schedule recalculated each week.
- Learning and relaxation modules: sleep education, Q&A and relaxation exercises.
- Care centre support: scheduled check-in calls in weeks 1, 2 and 4.
- Clinician review: final survey and sleep records reviewed with the prescribing doctor.
3. Potential application
Psychiatry and neurology departments of large hospitals in Vietnam could pilot SleepQ as a non-drug option for chronic insomnia. Pharmaceutical distributors could partner with WELT to bring the therapy to market alongside sleep and mental health medicines. Private clinic chains could offer it in sleep medicine services.
4. Benefits
Gives hospitals a prescribable, non-drug insomnia treatment that can be offered at scale without adding therapist time. In a randomised sham-controlled trial at Severance Hospital, sleep efficiency improved 8.28 percentage points more than the control. Real-world data from 37 institutions showed an average 6.59-point drop in Insomnia Severity Index scores. Prescribable at 1,200+ medical institutions in Korea.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Prescription digital therapeutics are moving from pilots to reimbursement in Korea, Germany and Japan, with insomnia among the first approved indications. Asian health systems face rising sleep and mental health disorders and too few CBT-trained therapists. In Vietnam, sleep problems linked to work stress are common, while hospital psychology services remain concentrated in large cities.
6. Other information
