1. Technology overview
Digital Agriculture Services (DAS) is an Australian location intelligence company established in 2017 in partnership with CSIRO, Australia's national science agency, which is its founding equity partner. It builds SaaS tools that help banks, insurers, agribusinesses and government assess rural land, climate risk and agricultural production.
The DAS platform combines public, commercial, scientific and customer data and lets users explore, predict and collaborate on rural properties. Products include Rural Property, Rural Valuations, Rural Insurance, Rural Portfolio, Grain Intelligence, Climate Data Pack and Forest Loss Data Pack, plus Embed and integration tools so lenders and insurers can use DAS data inside their own systems, including Guidewire InsuranceSuite.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Rural Property: search properties over one acre and build farms from multiple parcels.
- Rural Insurance: structure detection, hazard enrichment and digital reports for underwriting and claims.
- Rural Valuations: faster land valuation support for lenders.
- Rural Portfolio: portfolio-level climate and risk monitoring for banks and insurers.
- Data packs: grain, climate event and forest loss data for analysis and ESG reporting.
- Embed and integrations: DAS data inside customer systems, including Guidewire Cloud InsuranceSuite.
3. Potential application
- Agricultural banks assessing collateral and climate risk for farm loans in the Mekong Delta and Central Highlands.
- Non-life insurers mapping flood and drought accumulation across insured farms.
- Agribusinesses and grain traders monitoring production regions and deforestation risk in supply chains.
4. Benefits
- Speeds up rural lending and underwriting with property-level fire, drought and flood risk in one place.
- Detects structures within property boundaries to reduce underinsurance and premium leakage.
- Maps risk accumulation by shire and property for insurers' portfolio management.
- Supports climate and nature reporting, including TNFD-aligned data for portfolios.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Banks and insurers are under pressure to price climate risk and report on nature-related exposure in their agricultural portfolios, which requires property-level geospatial data. In Vietnam, agricultural lending is a large share of bank credit and agricultural insurance is being expanded, so lenders and insurers need better data on land, crops and climate hazards.
