1. Technology overview
Momenta is an autonomous driving company founded in 2016 by Xudong Cao, with offices in Suzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, Stuttgart and Abu Dhabi. It listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in July 2026 and works on two tracks: mass-production driver assistance for automakers and scalable robotaxi and robovan services, both fed by a data flywheel and a world model.
The mass-production offering spans L2 to L2++ functions such as in-lane steering, acceleration and braking, automatic lane changes, intersection handling and parking, and now L3 driving within a defined operational design domain, first launched on the Audi E7X. OEMs build on the standardised Momenta Mainline of code, frameworks and toolchains, and can customise through an Open Solution. Partners listed include SAIC, General Motors, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, GAC, BYD, Lotus and Audi.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- L2 and L2+ assistance: in-lane steering, acceleration, braking and user-initiated lane changes.
- L2++ functions: complex intersections, construction diversions, parking and emergency steering.
- L3 automated driving: full takeover within a defined operational design domain.
- Momenta Mainline: standardised code, frameworks and toolchains for mass production.
- Open Solution: lets OEMs customise products on top of the mainline.
- Robotaxi and Robovan: L4 passenger and logistics services powered by a world model.
3. Potential application
Vietnamese EV and car makers can license L2+ and L3 driver assistance for new models. Assemblers of Chinese and Japanese brands in Vietnam can localise Momenta-based features. Logistics companies can follow robovan deployments for future urban delivery pilots.
4. Benefits
Automakers can launch L2 to L3 features on a standardised code base instead of building their own stack, while customising the experience through the Open Solution. One architecture and one algorithm framework, trained on large volumes of fleet data, let improvements roll across vehicle models. The company is moving into Europe and global brands, with Germany-wide L4 testing approval from the KBA.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Global and Chinese automakers increasingly buy proven driver assistance software rather than develop it alone, and L3 systems are entering series production. Several partner brands, including Toyota, BYD, Peugeot and Jeep, also sell vehicles in Southeast Asia, so Momenta-based features can reach the region through their models.
6. Other information
Founded in 2016 by Xudong Cao; the site's terms are issued by Beijing Momenta Technology Co., Ltd. under PRC law. Listed on HKEX in July 2026, raising HKD 6.8 billion. Formed the DiPi Intelligent Mobility joint venture with BYD in 2021 and obtained Germany-wide L4 testing approval from the KBA in July 2026.
