1. Technology overview

Nara Space Technology is a satellite company headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, that presents itself as Korea's integrated satellite service. It builds small satellites and analyses their imagery, so that local governments, agencies and companies can own a satellite mission without a large in-house space team.

Its standard offer, based on the flight heritage of Observer-1A, includes turnkey satellites and bus platforms. Observer carries an 8-band multispectral payload at 1.5 m resolution, and NarSha a 150-band hyperspectral payload for methane detection. Customers supplying their own payloads can choose 6U, 12U or 16U buses. A web configurator estimates custom satellite costs, and the company adds mission support, an imagery platform and AI-based image analysis. Recent missions include the GYEONGGISat-2A methane-monitoring satellite and the E3T-2 verification satellite.

2. Highlighted features & specifications

  • Observer: turnkey Earth observation satellite with 1.5 m resolution and 8 multispectral bands.
  • NarSha: turnkey hyperspectral satellite with 150 bands and methane detection.
  • Bus platforms: 6U, 12U and 16U buses with space heritage for customer payloads.
  • Custom satellite configurator: online tool giving an itemised cost estimate.

  • Space heritage from Observer-1A and recent government missions.
  • AI imagery analysis turns data into reports such as flood damage assessments.

6. Other information

Headquartered in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. Built Observer-1A and GYEONGGISat-2A, Korea's first methane-monitoring satellite, launched on a SpaceX Falcon 9 in 2026, and operates the E3T-2 satellite launched on Korea's NURI rocket carrying Samsung memory parts.
