1. Technology overview
WI.Plat Co., Ltd. is a Korean water technology company incorporated in 2019, with its head office and R&D centre in Daejeon, a US branch in Maryland and an Indonesia representative office in Bandung. It provides AI-driven digital water management to cut non-revenue water and pumping energy for water utilities, and was part of Imagine H2O Asia's third cohort.
Its core product NELOW is an agentic AI platform for distribution networks: high-sensitivity acoustic and pressure sensors listen to pipes around the clock, CNN and auto-encoder models score recordings, and an LLM agent pinpoints leaks and drafts response plans on a cloud dashboard with mobile apps. WI.Plat also offers APEX for autonomous pump and valve scheduling above existing SCADA, a Leak Capsule for in-pipe inspection without excavation, and AI leak detection field services. Customers include K-water sites in Korea and municipal utilities in Indonesia and Thailand.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Acoustic and pressure sensing: Sonic GL survey loggers and Sonic M2 permanent loggers listen to pipes around the clock.
- AI leak scoring: CNN and auto-encoder models analyse recordings daily and rank leak-suspect points.
- LLM agent reporting: an AI agent pinpoints leaks, drafts response plans and produces daily reports, repair lists and risk maps.
- APEX plant optimisation: plans pumps and valves 24 hours ahead from level, flow and tariff data, running above existing SCADA with human approval.
- Leak Capsule: an inspection capsule travels with the flow inside live mains without digging or shutdown.
- Performance-based contracts: three-year NRW programmes paid on verified reduction volume times an agreed unit rate.
3. Potential application
Provincial water supply companies in Vietnam can run performance-based NRW programmes in high-loss district metered areas without upfront capital. Large utilities can use APEX to schedule pumping stations against time-of-use electricity tariffs. Industrial park operators can deploy permanent acoustic loggers on internal mains to catch leaks early.
4. Benefits
Utilities can find hidden leaks from continuous acoustic monitoring instead of periodic manual surveys; one Indonesian city survey covered 11,183 points and flagged 2,518 as leak-suspect. Under the performance-based model the utility pays no upfront equipment cost and pays only for verified water savings. Permanent loggers flag returning leaks so gains do not fade, and an earlier P4G pilot in Hai Duong, Vietnam cut leakage by 13% and 19% at two sites.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Many regional water utilities in Southeast Asia still report non-revenue water of 30% or more, while budgets for new pipes and survey equipment are tight. Continuous acoustic monitoring, AI analytics and outcome-based contracts that shift performance risk to the vendor are gaining traction with development-funded programmes from KOICA, ADB and others.
6. Other information
WI.Plat Co., Ltd. was incorporated in 2019 in Daejeon, Korea, and raised seed and Series A funding. It was a CES 2023 Innovation Awards Honoree, won the SIWW 2024 TechXchange asset management session, and was selected for WIN-WIN HONORS 2026. It joined Imagine H2O Asia Cohort 3 and the P4G partnership that piloted its listening technology in Hai Duong, Vietnam, and in 2025 completed a smart water study for the Mekong River Basin with STEPI and UNDP.
