1. Technology overview
Xi'an Bright Laser Technologies (BLT) is a metal additive manufacturing company founded in July 2011 in Xi'an, China, and listed on the Shanghai STAR Market since 2019, with about 3,400 employees and BLT Europe in Maisach, Germany. It supplies metal 3D printers, metal powders, printed parts and AM software so that aerospace, engine, automotive, tooling and electronics makers can produce complex metal parts in volume.
The PBF-LB/M range covers build sizes from 160 mm to 1,500 mm, from the R&D-oriented BLT-S210 and compact BLT-S400 to the BLT-S1025 with 2,500 mm build height and up to 32 lasers, plus A-series machines and DED systems. Integrated and split powder circulation units handle closed-loop powder recycling, and BRIGHTENLINES is a modular automated line from powder handling to substrate disassembly. Software includes BLT-MES, Build Planner, 3D Reconstruction, a self-learning process platform and PrintInsight monitoring, with more than 60 processable materials.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Large-format PBF: BLT-S1025 offers 2,500 mm build height with up to 32 lasers for heavy industry parts.
- Production machines: the compact BLT-S400 targets high-volume, high-precision series production.
- Automated line: BRIGHTENLINES links powder handling, printing and substrate disassembly in modular cells.
- Powder circulation: integrated and split units recycle powder in a closed loop.
- AM software: BLT-MES, Build Planner, 3D Reconstruction and PrintInsight manage and monitor production.
- Materials and parts: more than 60 materials plus in-house powders and one-stop printed part services.
3. Potential application
Electronics component suppliers in Vietnam can print titanium and steel parts such as foldable phone hinges and frames in series. Mould makers can produce conformal cooling inserts on BLT-S400 machines. Aerospace and energy part suppliers can use large-format systems for turbine, engine and structural components.
4. Benefits
BLT reports serving over 2,800 customers worldwide as of June 2024 and processing more than 60 materials. The upgraded BLT-S400 has a footprint of 3.36 square metres and has produced over one million 3C blanks, showing suitability for mass production of consumer electronics parts. A smart powder-spreading system reaches up to 300 mm/s, and BRIGHTENLINES automates the chain from powder handling to substrate removal, reducing manual labour between print jobs.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Metal additive manufacturing is entering mass production, with multi-laser machines and automated lines producing consumer electronics, automotive and aerospace parts at scale, led by fast-growing Chinese suppliers. Southeast Asia, where much consumer electronics and automotive component assembly is located, is a growing market for production-grade metal AM, and BLT lists Southeast Asia among its customer regions.
6. Other information
