EZ-CELL Sort-Mate Robotic Produce Sorting

Systemex Automation is the automation division of Systemex Group, based in Laval, Quebec, Canada and founded in 2001. It designs and integrates custom automation for manufacturing and agri-food, with expertise in robotics, machine vision and AI, and manages projects in-house from design to after-sales service.

EZ-CELL Sort-Mate is a robotic cell that inspects and sorts fruits and vegetables using robotics, AI and computer vision. It sorts by color, size, defects and weight, targets a precise weight per box, and is designed to fit into existing operations. It was launched on 10 June 2025 and demonstrated at ProMat 2025.

Fruit packhouses can use the cell to grade by size, color and defects before export. Greenhouse vegetable growers such as tomato or cucumber producers can automate box-weight packing. Fresh-cut processors can reduce manual inspection stations.

Reduces reliance on manual sorting labor in packing operations. Less human handling supports food safety for organic and conventional produce. Precise weight targeting per box cuts giveaway and shortens payback, according to the vendor. A single integrator manages design, integration and service.

Agri-food packers face labor shortages and food safety expectations, which drives interest in robotic sorting cells. Vietnam's fruit and vegetable packhouses exporting to demanding markets are exploring similar automation for grading and box-weight accuracy.

Systemex Automation was founded in 2001 in Laval, Quebec and is part of Systemex Group, led by President and CEO Sam Abdelmalek. EZ-CELL Sort-Mate launched on 10 June 2025 and was shown at ProMat 2025. Systemex announced attendance at events in fall 2026.
