1. Technology overview
All the electricity that Meridian Energy generates comes from 100% renewable sources; wind, water, and sun. However, the company supplies electricity from an electricity grid that mixes electricity from both renewable as well as non-renewable sources. The company is listed on both the NZX and ASC and is one of the country’s largest listed companies. Currently, Meridian energy generates its electricity from its own two wind farms, seven hydropower stations, and commercial solar arrays. Not just in New Zealand, but the company also has two wind farms and three hydropower stations in Australia. Meridian Energy is a part of Meridian Group that sells electricity through three bands; Meridian energy, Powershop New Zealand, and Powershop Australia.
