1. Technology overview
Foundries.io is an IoT and edge software company founded in October 2017 in Cambridge, United Kingdom, by engineers spun out of Linaro to bring open-source Linux practices to embedded and edge devices. In March 2024 it was acquired by Qualcomm Innovation Center but continues to operate as an independent subsidiary under its own brand and product line.
Its core product, FoundriesFactory, is a subscription DevOps platform built around the Linux microPlatform operating system, giving OEMs continuous integration, secure boot support for Arm PSA and Intel PTT, and over-the-air update management without building in-house infrastructure. Customers include robotics and industrial device makers such as FORT Robotics, Tailos and idealworks, integrating with hardware partners like Arduino, STMicroelectronics and NXP.
