Robotiq Adaptive Grippers & TSF-85 Tactile Fingertips

1. Technology overview

Robotiq was founded on 1 July 2008 in Quebec, Canada, and is headquartered in Lévis with a European office near Lyon, France. It sells grippers, sensors, software and ready workcells that help manufacturers automate repetitive manual tasks with collaborative robots, and its customers include tens of thousands of factories worldwide.

The adaptive gripper line includes the 2F-85, 2F-140 and Hand-E grippers, with plug-and-play kits for cobots from Universal Robots, FANUC CRX, Doosan Robotics, Techman Robot, Yaskawa, Omron, Hanwha and Aubo, and industrial protocols for other robots. For physical AI, the TSF-85 tactile sensor fingertips replace standard 2F-85 and 2F-140 fingertips and add a 4×7 taxel grid, 1,000 Hz dynamic feedback for slip detection and an IMU. ROS 2 packages, an open-source C++ SDK and NVIDIA Isaac Sim assets support research labs and integrators.

2. Highlighted features & specifications

  • 2F-85 and 2F-140: two-finger adaptive grippers for parts of many shapes.
  • Hand-E: parallel gripper with 7 kg payload and 20 to 185 N grip force.
  • TSF-85 fingertips: tactile sensing with a 4x7 taxel grid and 1,000 Hz slip feedback.
  • Plug + Play kits: ready integration with UR, FANUC CRX, Doosan, Techman and others.
  • Developer tools: ROS 2 packages and an open-source C++ SDK.
  • Simulation: digital twins in NVIDIA Isaac Sim for training physical AI models.

3. Potential application

A Vietnamese system integrator can standardise on Robotiq grippers for machine tending cells on different cobot brands. An electronics plant can use Hand-E for PCB and component handling. A university or R&D centre can use TSF-85 fingertips and Isaac Sim assets to train grasping models.

4. Benefits

Plug-and-play kits install in about 5 to 10 minutes on major cobot brands, cutting integration time. The Hand-E gripper offers 0.025 mm repeatability, IP67 protection and a 5 million cycle warranty. Tactile fingertips let AI-driven robots detect slip and grip fragile or variable items, and simulation assets speed up training before deployment.

6. Other information

Founded on 1 July 2008 from robotics research at Laval University; head office in Lévis, Quebec, and European office in Vaulx-en-Velin, France. Reports more than 25,000 grippers deployed. Long-term research partner of the CoRo Lab at École de technologie supérieure in Montreal.
