1. Technology overview
Graphene Manufacturing Group (GMG) is an Australian clean-technology company listed on the TSX Venture Exchange, with graphene production, leadership and corporate operations at Richlands, Brisbane. It makes graphene in-house by decomposing natural gas into carbon as graphene and hydrogen, and uses it in products that cut wasted energy in cooling, engines and batteries.
THERMAL-XR is a patented, water-based acrylic coating containing thermally conductive GMG graphene, applied on-site by certified applicators to aluminium and copper air-cooled heat exchangers in air conditioning and refrigeration, including RTPF and microchannel coils. It protects coils against corrosion, adds a water-repellent surface and helps restore heat transfer. Other lines include G LUBRICANT engine oil additive, SUPA G coolant additive, battery graphene slurry and graphene aluminium-ion cells. Customers include facility owners of commercial buildings, data centres, hospitals and industrial plants.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Graphene-enhanced coating: water-based acrylic resin with thermally conductive GMG graphene.
- Corrosion protection: shields aluminium and copper coil surfaces, tested over 30,000 hours of salt spray.
- Hydrophobic surface: water-repellent finish that helps protect exposed coils.
- Coil compatibility: suits RTPF and microchannel air conditioning and refrigeration coils.
- Certified applicators: on-site installation with spray academy training and a partner portal.
- Distribution network: partners in Singapore, Thailand, North America and Australia.
3. Potential application
Data centre and commercial building operators in Vietnam can coat condenser coils to reduce cooling energy and corrosion. Resorts and factories in coastal provinces can extend the life of outdoor air conditioning units exposed to salt air. HVAC maintenance contractors can become certified applicators and offer the coating as a service.
4. Benefits
GMG reports 10-50% energy reduction measured across commercial HVAC, chillers and data centres treated with THERMAL-XR. The coating has passed over 30,000 hours of salt spray testing under ASTM B117-19, extending coil life and deferring capital replacement. It is applied to existing equipment on-site without replacing units, fitting into regular cleaning and maintenance workflows.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Cooling is one of the largest electricity loads in tropical cities, and data centre growth is adding further demand. In coastal and humid Southeast Asian markets, salt and pollution corrode condenser coils quickly, so retrofit coatings that protect coils and keep heat transfer efficient offer a low-capex energy efficiency measure.
6. Other information
Based at Richlands, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia; listed on TSXV (GMG) and OTCQX (GMGMF). Graphene production verified by the Advanced Carbons Council to ISO/TS 9651:2025. THERMAL-XR partners include ACMES Aircon & Electrical Services in Singapore and a Thailand partner. The University of Queensland verified up to 8.4% diesel fuel efficiency gain for G LUBRICANT in February 2025.
