1. Technology overview
Sciosense B.V. is a sensor company headquartered at High Tech Campus Eindhoven in the Netherlands, specialising in environmental and flow sensing. It supplies chips and modules that help appliance, building, metering and automotive makers measure air quality, humidity and liquid flow so that resources are used more efficiently.
The portfolio covers ENS16x metal-oxide multi-gas sensors, the ENS190 NDIR CO2 sensor, the ENS130 CO sensor, the ENS170A gas array and APC1 combo sensor, ENS21x temperature and humidity sensors, and ultrasonic flow converters such as AS6031, TDC-GP30 and the new UFC23. The UFM-02 module packages a calibrated ultrasonic flow unit for water appliances. Other parts include time-to-digital converters, capacitance converters and the AS3935 lightning sensor.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- ENS16x gas sensors: digital metal-oxide multi-gas sensors for indoor air quality and VOC detection.
- ENS190 CO2 sensor: compact NDIR sensor with patented M-shaped chamber and automatic calibration.
- ENS21x humidity sensors: digital temperature and relative humidity sensors for HVAC and appliances.
- Ultrasonic flow converters: AS6031, TDC-GP30 and UFC23 chips for battery-powered water and heat meters.
- UFM-02 flow module: calibrated ultrasonic unit with pulse or SPI output for appliances and leak detection.
- Specialty sensing: time-to-digital converters, capacitance converters and the AS3935 lightning sensor.
3. Potential application
Vietnamese air purifier and air-conditioner makers can integrate ENS16x and ENS190 sensors for automatic air quality control. Water meter and water purifier manufacturers can use UFC23 or UFM-02 for battery-powered ultrasonic flow measurement and leak detection. Building management integrators can deploy CO2 and humidity sensing in offices and schools.
4. Benefits
One supplier covers indoor air quality, CO2, humidity and liquid flow, simplifying sourcing for appliance and HVAC makers. The ENS190 uses an M-shaped optical path with automated calibration and a stated lifetime of over 15 years. The UFM-02 flow module averages 50 µA operating current, enough for years on a primary battery, and measures up to 450 L/min in its largest size. Ultrasonic flow sensing has no moving parts, reducing wear compared with mechanical meters.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Indoor air quality standards for buildings, demand-controlled ventilation and smart water metering are increasing the number of sensors per building and per appliance. Appliance and HVAC production is heavily concentrated in China and Southeast Asia, and Vietnam's growing appliance, air-conditioning and smart-meter manufacturing creates demand for compact, low-power environmental and flow sensors.
