1. Technology overview
Uptale is an immersive learning company that has helped organisations prepare frontline teams since 2017. It operates three hubs in Paris (EMEA), San Francisco (North America) and Singapore (APAC) and reports more than 500 customers worldwide and 2 million training sessions delivered. Its goal is to turn real operations into practical training for workers in manufacturing, energy, retail, transport, healthcare and banking.
The platform lets trainers capture real sites and procedures with 360-degree cameras, then build interactive VR and multi-device modules without code, using more than 50 interaction types. AI features generate content, run conversational role-play and coach learners, while analytics show progress and skill gaps. Modules run on Meta, Pico, Lenovo and HTC headsets as well as mobile, tablet and web. Customers can use the self-service platform, a managed service or Uptale's production team.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- 360-degree capture: real sites, procedures and expert know-how are recorded in the field with a 360 camera.
- No-code authoring: trainers assemble VR scenarios with more than 50 interaction types.
- AI generation and role-play: AI drafts content and runs conversational role-play for soft skills.
- Multi-device delivery: the same module runs on VR headsets, mobile, tablet and web browsers.
- Learning analytics: dashboards track progress, scores and skill gaps across sites.
- Enterprise controls: SSO, governance settings, SCORM export and LMS, LTI or xAPI integration.
3. Potential application
- Electronics and semiconductor plants in Vietnam capturing cleanroom and assembly procedures in 360 VR to onboard operators.
- Airlines and airports training ground staff on safety and service procedures before they work on the apron.
- Retail chains and banks using AI role-play modules to train customer-facing staff.
4. Benefits
- Faster upskilling: Stellantis reports operator upskilling time divided by 3 and TotalEnergies cut onboarding from 1.5 hours to 20 minutes.
- Lower training cost: Alstom reports safety training costs reduced by 90%.
- Realistic content at low effort: trainers build modules from their own 360-degree captures in hours rather than commissioning 3D production.
- Enterprise readiness: ISO 27001 certification, SSO and LMS integration support large multi-country rollouts.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Manufacturers, airlines, energy groups and retailers face high frontline turnover and need to train new workers quickly without stopping production lines. Affordable standalone headsets and generative AI have lowered the cost of immersive content, shifting demand toward self-service tools that internal trainers can use. In Southeast Asia, semiconductor and electronics plants expanding in Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore need consistent safety and process training across sites.
6. Other information
Active since 2017; hubs in Paris, San Francisco and Singapore. In April 2025 Munich-based VRdirect moved under Uptale. ISO 27001 certified (announced January 2026). Partners include PIXO VR and the Rise Up LMS. Customers shown include Stellantis, Alstom, TotalEnergies, Micron, GlobalFoundries, Scoot and Hong Kong Airport.
