1. Technology overview
MoEngage is a customer engagement company founded in 2014 by Raviteja Dodda and Yashwanth Kumar, with 15 offices across North America, EMEA and Asia, including San Francisco, Bengaluru, Singapore, Jakarta, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Ho Chi Minh City. It helps consumer brands understand customer behaviour and send personalised messages across channels to raise retention and lifetime value.
The platform combines warehouse-native data activation, segmentation and analytics with cross-channel campaigns across email, push, SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, in-app, on-site, content cards and paid media, plus web and app personalisation and real-time transactional alerts. Merlin AI Agents generate copy, creatives and code and run longer workflows for marketers, while AI decisioning, strengthened by the Aampe acquisition, chooses offers, content, timing and channel for each customer. It connects to more than 300 tools including Snowflake and Databricks. More than 1,350 brands use it, including 7-Eleven Vietnam, Fahasa, Grab, Swiggy, Domino's, Samsung and Adidas.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Warehouse-native data: Activates segments directly from Snowflake, Databricks and other warehouses.
- Analytics and segments: Tracks behaviour and builds real-time audiences.
- Cross-channel campaigns: Sends email, push, SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, in-app and paid media messages.
- Personalisation: Tailors web and app content and real-time transactional alerts.
- Merlin AI Agents: Generates copy, creatives and code and automates marketing workflows.
- AI decisioning: Chooses offer, content, timing and channel for each customer.
3. Potential application
A convenience store chain in Vietnam can send personalised app offers based on purchase history, as 7-Eleven Vietnam does. An online bookstore or retailer can recover carts and recommend products through push, email and WhatsApp. A bank or e-wallet can automate onboarding and transaction alerts with AI-chosen timing.
4. Benefits
Brands can run personalised campaigns across more than ten channels from one platform and activate data directly from their warehouse without copying it. AI agents reduce the manual work of writing content and building campaigns, and 1:1 decisioning picks the best offer and timing for each customer. In the Aampe announcement, Swiggy reported a 40% revenue uplift versus a global holdout. The company states 99.99% uptime across six data centres.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Customer engagement platforms are moving from rule-based journeys to AI agents that decide messaging for each customer individually. Brands also want to activate data where it already sits, in cloud data warehouses, rather than copy it into many tools. In Vietnam and Southeast Asia, convenience retail, e-commerce and digital finance apps compete on retention, driving demand for app and messaging personalisation.
6. Other information
MoEngage was founded in 2014 and is backed by Goldman Sachs, Steadview Capital, B Capital, Multiples, Eight Roads and others. In 2025 it raised about USD 100 million plus USD 180 million in a Series F, and in June 2026 it acquired Aampe. It has an office in Ho Chi Minh City and reports more than 700 staff. In 2026 it was named a Leader in the IDC MarketScape for AI-enabled B2C CDPs and a Visionary in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Personalization Engines.
