1. Technology overview
Seoul Robotics is a B2B autonomous driving and 3D perception company founded in August 2017 by AI and self-driving engineers who met in an online class and placed 10th of more than 2,000 teams in a LiDAR-only driving competition. It has offices in Korea, Germany and the US and works with clients on four continents, addressing the cost of moving vehicles and monitoring traffic without fitting every vehicle with sensors.
Its LV5 CTRL TWR (Level 5 Control Tower) follows an "Autonomy Through Infrastructure" approach: a mesh network of sensors and computers installed in a factory yard, logistics ground or parking lot builds a unified model of the environment and sends driving commands over wireless links, so ordinary vehicles drive themselves without hardware changes. The SR Perception software processes LiDAR point clouds to detect, classify and track people, vehicles and cyclists, with SR Analytics generating traffic events and an NVIDIA Orin based LiDAR Processing Unit running at the edge.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Infrastructure-based autonomy: sensors and computers on site guide vehicles that have no autonomous hardware.
- Fleet orchestration: hundreds of vehicles drive simultaneously around obstacles and each other.
- SR Perception: real-time detection, classification and tracking from LiDAR point clouds.
- SR Analytics: events such as speeding, wrong-way driving, queues, jaywalking and near misses.
- SR Calibrator and Simulation: align multiple LiDARs and model coverage before installation.
- LiDAR Processing Unit: NVIDIA Orin edge device with preinstalled software for low latency.
3. Potential application
Car and motorbike assembly plants in Vietnam can drive finished vehicles from the end of line to storage yards and loading areas. Seaports and Ro-Ro terminals can automate vehicle marshalling. City traffic authorities can use LiDAR perception at busy intersections to detect wrong-way driving and near misses.
4. Benefits
Vehicles become autonomous without on-board sensors or retrofits, which lowers per-vehicle cost for factory and yard logistics. The control tower can move hundreds of vehicles at the same time, indoors and outdoors and in adverse weather, for 24/7 operation. The perception software works with major LiDAR models, mixes sensor types and keeps data anonymous for GDPR compliance.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Automakers are automating the movement of finished vehicles inside plants and to ports to save labour and yard space, and cities are deploying LiDAR at intersections for safety and traffic data. As Vietnam and Southeast Asia expand vehicle assembly, port logistics and smart city programmes, infrastructure-based autonomy offers a route to automation without replacing existing fleets.
6. Other information
Founded in August 2017 with offices in Korea, Germany and the US, and more than USD 35 million raised. BMW's iFactory in Dingolfing is the first commercial OEM deployment. A December 2024 investment valued the company at KRW 280 billion, and it received a Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy award in 2024.
