1. Technology overview

Qoitech AB is a Swedish developer of test tools for energy optimisation, battery testing and battery life prediction. It began in 2017 as a subsidiary of Sony Mobile Communications and spun out in 2019, and it helps hardware teams that build battery-powered IoT and embedded devices understand and cut power consumption.

The Otii Product Suite combines bench instruments and software. Otii Arc Pro and Otii Ace Pro are two-quadrant source measure units that power the device under test and record current from nanoamps up to 5 A, with Ace Pro adding isolation, up to 25 V and faster sampling. Recordings can be synchronised with UART debug logs. Software add-ons include the Battery Toolbox for profiling, emulation and life estimation, and the Automation Toolbox with a JSON-based TCP API for CI pipelines. Named users include Wirepas, Samsara, Philips, Sony and Deutsche Telekom.

2. Highlighted features & specifications

  • Otii Arc Pro: USB-powered two-quadrant SMU from 0.5 to 5 V with 5 nA resolution.
  • Otii Ace Pro: isolated SMU up to 25 V with higher sampling rate and expansion port.
  • Log synchronisation: current recordings aligned with UART debug output from the device.
  • Battery Toolbox: battery profiling, emulation, runtime comparison and cycle testing.
  • Automation Toolbox: JSON-based TCP API for scripts, CI and multi-instrument setups.
  • Desktop software: shared Otii application for analysing and comparing recordings.

3. Potential application

A Vietnamese IoT device maker can profile smart meter or tracker firmware to extend battery life before mass production. An EMS factory can add automated current checks to end-of-line tests. A university or R&D centre can use battery emulation to compare cells from different suppliers.

4. Benefits

Engineers see exactly which firmware events drain the battery, because current measurements from nanoamps to 5 A are aligned with UART logs. Battery emulation and runtime estimation let teams compare cells and suppliers before field trials. Automated measurements in CI catch power regressions in every build. A free hardware tier can be used indefinitely, with toolboxes sold as perpetual licences or subscriptions.

6. Other information

Qoitech AB began in 2017 as a Sony Mobile Communications subsidiary and spun out in 2019. Named one of Sweden's 33 most innovative tech start-ups by Ny Teknik in 2022 and 2023. Customers in more than 70 countries; products sold through distributors such as Mouser.
