1. Technology overview
etalytics is a deep tech company founded in 2020 as a spin-off of the ETA research group at TU Darmstadt, headquartered in Darmstadt, Germany. It develops AI software that cuts the energy used by industrial utility systems such as chillers, cooling towers, HVAC and ventilation, following a software-first approach with no hardware changes.
The etaONE platform combines digital twins, predictive analytics and AI control. Modules cover energy transparency (real-time monitoring, ISO 50001 and ESG reporting), energy foresight (load forecasting, predictive maintenance) and energy autonomy (closed-loop control, peak shaving). The etaEDGE gateway connects plant systems. Named customers include Merck KGaA, Volkswagen, Stellantis, NTT and Equinix.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Energy transparency: real-time monitoring, benchmarking, cost and carbon tracking, ISO 50001 and ESG reporting.
- Energy foresight: early risk detection, load forecasting, predictive maintenance and scenario simulation.
- Energy autonomy: AI adaptive control of chillers, cooling towers, pumps and HVAC, with peak shaving and market-adaptive scheduling.
- etaEDGE gateway: IIoT connectivity to plant systems through major interfaces.
- Digital twin models: hydraulic and thermal models of the utility system that guide the optimization.
- LLM assistant: beta assistant inside the platform.
3. Potential application
Chiller and cooling tower plants at electronics, pharmaceutical and food factories in Vietnamese industrial parks. Ventilation and paintshop air handling at automotive plants. Cooling systems of data centers and cleanrooms operated by manufacturers.
4. Benefits
Lower electricity use for cooling and ventilation: Merck KGaA reports a 21% reduction in one cooling segment measured over three months, and Stellantis a 60% cut in ventilation energy at a paintshop. Optimization runs without hardware changes or production disruption. Standard implementation takes about three months. Open-loop recommendations and closed-loop control are both offered, with manual override.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Industrial plants face rising electricity prices and decarbonization targets, and cooling and HVAC are among the largest controllable loads. AI-based closed-loop control of utilities is moving from pilots to production. In Vietnam and Southeast Asia, hot climate and growing electronics and pharma plants raise cooling demand, which makes this type of software relevant.
6. Other information
Founded 2020 as a TU Darmstadt spin-off, headquartered in Darmstadt, Germany. Raised a Series A of 16 million EUR in total (extension announced 2025-10, led by Microsoft M12, with Alstin Capital, ebm-papst and BMH). Opening a US team in the Bay Area. ISO 27001 and GDPR logos shown on website.
