1. Technology overview
Teradyne (NASDAQ: TER) makes automated test equipment for semiconductors and electronics, plus collaborative and mobile robots. Its press release is datelined North Reading, Massachusetts. Its semiconductor test range includes UltraFLEX, UltraFLEXplus, Magnum memory testers, system-level test and optical test.
In June 2026 Teradyne introduced an integrated test cell pairing its UltraFLEXplus platform with Tokyo Electron's Prexa SDP singulated device prober for known good device screening of AI and data center devices. It targets fabless designers, foundries and OSATs and is commercially available.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- UltraFLEXplus tester: SoC test platform for AI and data center devices.
- Prexa SDP prober: Singulated device prober from Tokyo Electron.
- Thermal control: Prober maintains device temperature and handles high power dissipation.
- Open ecosystem: Works with multiple probe cards and manipulators.
- Integration flexibility: Can integrate with other probers or testers.
- KGD screening: Known good device screening at several packaging stages.
3. Potential application
OSAT and test-service plants in Vietnam handling AI processors can adopt the cell for known good device screening before stacking.
Fabless designers can use it to qualify singulated die on a production-ready tester and prober pair.
4. Benefits
A validated test cell intended to reduce integration risk for high-volume manufacturing.
Screening at multiple points in the advanced packaging flow.
Helps prevent one defective die from compromising a costly 2.5D or 3D package.
Open architecture supports multiple probe cards, manipulators and interface technologies.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Advanced 2.5D and 3D packages make an undetected bad die expensive, moving test earlier to singulated die. OSAT and test capacity growing in Vietnam and Southeast Asia creates demand for validated, ready-to-run test cells that shorten qualification.
6. Other information
Announced June 8, 2026 and shown at SWTest (June 8-10, 2026). Shannon Poulin is president of the Semiconductor Test Group. Teradyne's site states Teradyne Device Interface Solutions is now DIS Tech.
