1. Technology overview
AgXeed B.V. was founded in 2018 in Venray, the Netherlands, by four founders and is based in Grubbenvorst. It develops autonomous field robots, called AgBots, and control units that tackle soil compaction, labour shortages and inefficiency in arable and specialty farming. The first AgBot was delivered to a customer in 2022 and production capacity was expanded in 2024.
The range includes tracked T2 5 and T2 7 Series tractors and wheeled W3 and W4 2 Series models. The T2 7 Series uses a 230 hp diesel-electric powertrain, 9 t rear lift and ground pressure below 30 kPa. Jobs are pre-planned in the TraXwise software, and the robots work standard 3-point implements with lidar and cameras for safety. Vehicle and Tool Control Units let existing machines join autonomous workflows. Field deployments include farms in Germany, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Tracked AgBots: T2 5 and T2 7 Series with up to 230 hp diesel-electric power and 9 t rear lift.
- Wheeled models: W3 and W4 2 Series extend the range beyond tracked tractors.
- TraXwise planning: pre-plans field operations and routes to minimise soil impact.
- Standard implements: 3-point linkage, ISOBUS/TIM connectivity and standard control valves.
- Safety sensing: lidar detection plus front and rear cameras for unattended operation.
- Control units: VCU and TCU connect and automate existing vehicles and tools.
3. Potential application
Sugarcane and cassava plantations can use T2 Series AgBots for night-time tillage and seedbed preparation. Large fruit farms in the Mekong Delta or Central Highlands can deploy AgBots for mowing and weeding with standard implements. Agricultural service providers can offer autonomous field work to cooperatives under contract.
4. Benefits
AgXeed states up to 90% labour savings and 25 to 35% lower total costs compared with conventional tractors. Tracked AgBots keep ground pressure below 30 kPa, limiting soil compaction. A German customer farming 170 ha reported 1,200 operating hours in the first year, and a T2 7 Series with a Väderstad drill covered 80 ha in 20 hours.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Shrinking rural workforces and the cost of skilled tractor drivers are pushing large farms toward driverless field machines. In Vietnam and Southeast Asia, large-scale farms, sugarcane and cassava plantations and high-tech agriculture zones are mechanising quickly, creating demand for autonomous tractors that can run long shifts with standard implements.
6. Other information
