1. Technology overview
AquaWise is an aquaculture data company with an address in Pathum Wan, Bangkok, founded in October 2023 by three co-founders. It addresses the scattered daily records of shrimp farms, kept in notebooks, photos, chat groups and voice notes, so farms can own a usable history of their ponds.
Its main tool is Nong Nam, an AI assistant that runs inside the LINE messaging app. Farmers speak, type or send a photo of a log sheet, the assistant reads the values, sorts them by pond and date, and asks the farmer to confirm before saving. A beta Shrimp Scan estimates count and size from a lift-net photo, and a market map shows processors' purchase plans by shrimp size. The pilot is open to farms with at least three ponds, mainly in Phetchaburi.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- LINE assistant: Nong Nam accepts spoken, typed or photo input and logs pond data.
- Log-sheet reading: reads values from photos of paper logs and asks for confirmation before saving.
- Pond diary: a dated timeline of records for each pond.
- Shrimp Scan (beta): estimates shrimp count and average size from a lift-net photo, with accuracy still being measured.
- Market map: free view of processors' 2026 purchase plans by shrimp size.
- Data ownership controls: partner dashboards show only data the farm agrees to share.
3. Potential application
Vietnamese shrimp feed companies and processors can adapt a chat-based record assistant to collect pond data from contract farmers in Zalo. Cooperatives can digitise paper pond logs for traceability audits. Lenders to shrimp farms can use farmer-approved pond histories for credit assessment.
4. Benefits
Farm records are captured by voice, text or photo in an app farmers already use, so no equipment installation is needed. Each entry is confirmed by the farmer before saving, and blank fields stay blank. Farm data is shared with others in the chain only with the farm's consent. Starting to use the service is free, and a free market map shows processors' purchase plans.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Thailand and Vietnam both have large numbers of small and mid-sized shrimp farms that still keep paper or chat-based records. Digitising those records is a first step before analytics, lending and traceability can work. The Thai Department of Fisheries open data cited on the site lists over 21,000 registered white-shrimp farms.
6. Other information
Founded in October 2023 in Bangkok; the team page lists awards including ISEF 2024 and the TYSF 2023 gold medal, a TED Youth Startup Championship 2025 grant, and a place in TechCrunch Startup Battlefield 200 in 2025. Supporters shown include Google Cloud, KASIKORNBANK, Beacon VC and NIA. Vietnamese language support is not stated.
