1. Technology overview
Ati Robotics, formerly Ati Motors, was founded in 2017 in Bengaluru, India, and builds autonomous mobile robots for moving materials inside factories and warehouses. It replaces forklift and manual trolley runs between storage, line side and shipping, which are labour-intensive and hard to coordinate with production.
The Sherpa family has seven AMRs across five families, from 500 kg modular movers to 4,600 kg trolley tuggers, plus pallet movers and lifting units, using 3D LiDAR and Nvidia Jetson edge computing. Ati Flow is the orchestration layer that sits above ERP and MES to plan and track material flows, while Ativerse handles fleet management. Customers are mainly automotive and industrial manufacturers such as Hyundai, Samsung, Airbus and Yokohama.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Sherpa tuggers: tow trolley trains of up to 4,600 kg between storage and production lines.
- Pallet movers: move pallets autonomously across factory and warehouse floors.
- Lifting and handling units: modular movers from 500 kg for carts and bins.
- Ati Flow: orchestrates material flows above ERP and MES with real-time data.
- Ativerse: fleet management and analytics, including multi-vendor fleets.
- Equipment handoffs: integrates with conveyors, IoT feeds and other line equipment.
3. Potential application
An automotive parts plant in Hai Phong can use Sherpa tuggers to feed assembly lines from the warehouse on a fixed cycle. An electronics factory in Bac Ninh can move finished goods pallets to the shipping dock automatically. A tyre or consumer goods plant can link material moves to MES orders through Ati Flow.
4. Benefits
The company reports deployments in more than 70 factories, a 99% mission success rate, an average deployment time of four weeks and a payback under six months for US customers. Robots-as-a-Service removes upfront capital spending. At a Yokohama tyre plant, Sherpa robots handle more than 10,000 material-handling activities a day.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Manufacturers are automating internal logistics as forklift drivers become scarce and safety rules tighten. Supply chains shifting to India and Southeast Asia create new automotive and electronics plants that are designed for AMRs from the start, and Ati has opened an office in Chonburi, Thailand to serve this region.
6. Other information
Founded in 2017 in Bengaluru, renamed Ati Robotics in 2026. Offices in Bengaluru, Madison Heights (Michigan, US), Puebla (Mexico) and Chonburi (Thailand). Raised a USD 20 million Series B in January 2025 co-led by Walden Catalyst Ventures and NGP Capital. Holds ISO 3691-4, ISO 9001, 14001, 27001 and 45001.
