BIOMETiC Mito 3D X-ray Food Inspection

BIOMETiC is an Italian company in Bressanone, South Tyrol, founded in 2012 as part of the MiCROTEC Group, whose roots go back to an apple-sorting calibration tool built in 1980. It builds inspection, sorting and traceability systems that help food manufacturers and fruit packers remove foreign bodies and grade quality in-line.

Its flagship Mito is an in-line 3D X-ray system based on patented computed tomography that reconstructs the shape, internal structure and packaging of each product and evaluates point density rather than average density. Models cover glass jars, bottles and cans (Mito C), multipacks (Mito M) and bulk products (Mito B). The Q Eye range adds AI optical, hyperspectral and X-ray sorting for fruit, while F Trace provides traceability. Users include Magnum, Dr. Schar, Menz&Gasser, Latteria Vipiteno and FlexXray.
