1. Technology overview
BlueBotics was founded in 2001 as a spin-off of EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland, and has been part of the ZAPI Group since 2022. It provides natural feature navigation technology that helps vehicle makers turn AGVs, forklifts and mobile robots into autonomous vehicles without reflectors, magnets or floor lines, reducing installation time and cost.
The ANT (Autonomous Navigation Technology) range includes ANT lite+ for full positioning and control, ANT localization for upgrading line-following AGVs, ANT locator for tracking manual forklifts and their loads, ANT everywhere for outdoor operation and ANT lab for vehicle and mission configuration. ANT server is the mission and fleet management software that schedules missions, controls traffic, manages charging, interfaces with doors and elevators and runs multi-brand fleets including VDA 5050 vehicles. More than 7,000 ANT-driven vehicles are in operation.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- ANT lite+: full positioning and control solution for AGVs and AMRs.
- ANT localization: positioning for AGVs and upgrade path for line-following vehicles.
- ANT locator: tracks manual forklifts and their payloads for transport flow optimization.
- ANT everywhere: outdoor extension for ANT navigation systems.
- ANT server: mission scheduling, traffic control, charging management and multi-brand fleets.
- ANT lab and SmartPass: vehicle and mission configuration plus efficient obstacle passing.
3. Potential application
- A Vietnamese AGV or forklift manufacturer licensing ANT to launch autonomous models.
- A beverage or FMCG plant automating pallet transport between production and warehouse.
- A logistics center tracking manual forklifts with ANT locator before moving to automation.
4. Benefits
- Infrastructure-free navigation shortens installation compared with reflector or magnet-based AGVs.
- Vehicle makers bring automated products to market faster with proven navigation and engineering support.
- ANT server manages mixed fleets, including VDA 5050 vehicles, from one system.
- Track record of 7,000+ vehicles, 2,000+ end-user installations and 150+ vehicle types automated.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Forklift and AGV makers in Asia are adding autonomy to their product lines, and plants want mixed fleets that follow VDA 5050. Vietnam's growing base of electronics, automotive and FMCG factories creates demand for automated forklifts and AGVs that can be installed without major floor changes.
6. Other information
Founded in 2001 as an EPFL spin-off; based in St-Sulpice, Switzerland, with regional offices in Garner (USA) and Shanghai (China). Acquired by ZAPI Group in 2022. ISO 9001:2015 certified. Distributors in Japan (ALTECH), South Korea (MacPion) and China (TONGPU); partners include Sumitomo NACCO, Toyota Automated Logistics and JBT.
