1. Technology overview
Blueiot is a Beijing-headquartered indoor positioning company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tsingoal Group, with four technical centers and R&D staff from universities such as Cornell, UCL and Tsinghua. It provides Bluetooth Angle-of-Arrival real-time location systems for tracking employees, patients, assets and forklifts, and reports 1,200 cases.
The system uses multi-antenna AoA anchors that calculate signal direction, BLE tags from coin size to vehicle add-ons, a patented positioning engine and an open API. Each anchor covers up to 45 m and handles up to 500 simultaneous tags, a deployment scales to 100,000 tags, and tags run up to five years on one battery. Data stays on premises, and the visualization platform can be white-labeled.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- AoA anchors: multi-antenna locators measuring signal direction with up to 45 m coverage each.
- BLE tags: coin-sized to vehicle-mounted tags with up to five-year battery life.
- Positioning engine: patented engine handling multipath and dense tag environments.
- Scale: up to 100,000 tags per deployment and 500 per anchor.
- Open API and white-label platform: pushes location data to other systems.
- Navigation: indoor wayfinding for hospitals, airports, museums and parking.
3. Potential application
A hospital can track elderly or dementia patients and alert staff when they leave a ward. A factory can monitor workers entering hazardous zones and forklift movements. An exhibition center or theme park can offer visitor tracking and indoor navigation.
4. Benefits
Bluetooth AoA reaches sub-meter accuracy, up to 0.3 m in test conditions, at lower tag cost than many UWB systems. Anchors need no complex wiring, which shortens installation. Long-life tags reduce maintenance, on-premise data storage suits privacy-sensitive hospitals and factories, and compatibility with any Bluetooth 4.0+ device or smartphone reuses existing hardware.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Bluetooth direction finding offers a cheaper path to sub-meter tracking than UWB for many use cases, broadening RTLS beyond large manufacturers. Hospitals, elderly care and venues seek people tracking for safety. Factories and hospitals in Vietnam and Southeast Asia are looking for affordable, on-premise location systems that comply with local data rules.
6. Other information
Blueiot is headquartered in Beijing, China and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tsingoal Group, which also offers UWB positioning. It is a Bluetooth SIG member and 5G AIA member, and its site cites inclusion in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for indoor positioning and an IoT Global Breakthrough Award.
