Boomitra is a soil carbon removal company founded in 2016 by CEO Aadith Moorthy, with press releases datelined San Mateo, California. It develops large-scale projects that restore degraded farmland and rangeland through regenerative agriculture, working with smallholder farmers and ranchers across the Global South, and turns the measured soil carbon gains into removal credits.

A corporate with net-zero targets can buy soil removal credits for residual emissions.

Remote sensing calibrated on more than one million soil samples makes soil carbon measurement feasible across millions of acres of small farms, where field sampling alone would be too costly. Credit buyers get removal credits issued under Verra VM0042, including 3.03 million credits from one project in 2026. Partners can bring land and farmer networks while Boomitra supplies measurement, registration and sales, and farmers receive a share of carbon revenue alongside agronomic advice.

Demand is shifting from avoidance credits toward durable removal credits, and governments such as Singapore now buy Article 6 credits to meet national targets. Soil carbon in smallholder agriculture is a large but hard-to-measure pool, making remote sensing based MRV central to scaling it. Asian agricultural economies, including Vietnam with its large smallholder farming base, are increasingly exploring agricultural carbon programmes under Article 6.
