1. Technology overview
BGPworks is a Korean software startup led by CEO Heehong Moon, a former developer who earlier created the Dabang real estate app. Its first app, BEEP, managed expiry dates for a supermarket; customers then asked for stock quantity management, which led to BoxHero in 2018. It targets small businesses that still track stock in spreadsheets across warehouses, stores and stockrooms.
BoxHero is cloud inventory management software with web and mobile apps. Users create barcode and QR labels, scan items with a phone camera or a USB or Bluetooth scanner, track stock across multiple locations with transfer history, set safety stock alerts, and manage purchase orders, sales orders, invoices and returns. Reports analyse stock by date or location with custom formulas. The service runs in more than 10 languages including Vietnamese, and lists users such as LG, Komatsu, Fujifilm, Korean Air and Emart.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Barcode and QR labels: create labels and print on office or thermal printers.
- Mobile scanning: scan with phone camera, USB or Bluetooth scanners.
- Multi-location stock: track and transfer stock across warehouses, stores and stockrooms.
- Low stock alerts: safety stock levels per item and location.
- Purchases and sales: purchase orders, sales orders, invoices, returns and bundles.
- Reports: stock analysis by date or location with custom formulas and Excel import or export.
3. Potential application
- A Vietnamese spare parts shop can label and scan parts and get alerts before stock runs out.
- A small manufacturer can track raw materials across a factory store and a warehouse.
- A retail chain with a few stores can transfer stock between branches with full history.
4. Benefits
- Small teams can start barcode-based stock control with a phone, without buying dedicated hardware.
- Safety stock alerts per item and location help prevent stock-outs.
- A 30-day free trial with no setup fees lowers the cost of adoption.
- An aviation maintenance user managing 17,000 parts reported nearly 50% time savings in inventory tasks.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Small businesses are replacing spreadsheets with low-cost mobile inventory apps as they sell through more channels and run more stock locations. In Vietnam, many SMEs, shops and small manufacturers need simple barcode-based stock control in Vietnamese before moving to a full WMS.
6. Other information
BGPworks was founded by Heehong Moon after Dabang was acquired by MediaWill Group in 2015, and launched BoxHero in 2018 after its BEEP expiry-date app. BoxHero reports more than 300,000 users; in 2025 it was used in 130 countries, added four new languages and planned batch, serial and expiry tracking for 2026.
