1. Technology overview
CADDi is a manufacturing technology company founded in Tokyo in 2017 by Yushiro Kato, formerly of McKinsey, and Aki Kobashi, formerly of Apple. It started with a procurement platform for custom-made parts and now builds an AI data platform that gives structure to drawings, BOMs, quality records and supplier data scattered across manufacturers. The company has more than 910 employees and customers in 22 countries.
The CADDi platform links CAD drawings with ERP, CRM, SCM, process, quality and equipment data through a semantic layer, so people and AI agents can search and reuse company knowledge. CADDi Explorer searches across all connected data with role-based access, and workflow products cover design reuse, design and process review, cost review, RFQs (CADDi Quote) and asset lifecycle management. Customers include Sumitomo Drive Technologies, Dairy Conveyor Corporation and Amerequip.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- CADDi Explorer: searches CAD, BOM, ERP, CRM, SCM, quality and equipment data in one place.
- Semantic layer: defines relationships between data so AI can answer questions about cost, defects and suppliers.
- CADDi Agent: AI agents run workflows on shared company data within set permissions.
- Design and process review: supports design reuse, design review and production readiness checks.
- CADDi Quote: AI suggests suppliers and normalises quotes for side-by-side RFQ comparison.
- Access control: role, contract-type and region policies for multi-site groups and subsidiaries.
3. Potential application
A Japanese-invested machinery plant in Vietnam can search past drawings and costs before quoting a new part. A procurement team can compare RFQs from local machining suppliers on price, lead time and quality history. An electronics group can trace which products use regulated substances across sites.
4. Benefits
Engineers and buyers find past drawings, costs and supplier history in one search instead of hunting across folders and systems. Case results on the site include 100,000 hours saved at an automotive OEM, a reduction of more than 90% in time spent investigating regulated substance usage at a semiconductor equipment maker, and a 30% annual procurement cost reduction at an industrial machinery manufacturer.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Japanese and global manufacturers with plants and suppliers across Southeast Asia hold decades of drawings and quality records that are hard to search. Structuring this data for AI is becoming a priority as experienced engineers retire and procurement shifts to new regional suppliers, including in Vietnam and Thailand.
6. Other information
CADDi is headquartered in Chicago and Tokyo, with offices that include Japan, the US, Thailand and Vietnam. In September 2026 it raised a US$114 million Series D at a US$1.2 billion valuation, with investors including Woven Capital, Salesforce Ventures, Atomico and Globis Capital Partners. It holds ISO/IEC 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2.
