1. Technology overview
CameraMatics is an Irish-founded fleet safety and video telematics company, set up in 2016 by Mervyn O'Callaghan and Simon Murray. It addresses road accidents, compliance gaps and poor visibility of commercial vehicles for fleet operators in the UK, Ireland, mainland Europe and the United States.
The platform combines AI dashcams (Genie Pro with up to three cameras and driver monitoring), a 360-degree camera system, AI detection of pedestrians and cyclists, and the Safety Centre for inspections, driver scoring and training. It also offers trailer and asset trackers and resells Geotab telematics. Nearly 1,000 fleet customers are reported.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Genie Pro dashcam: up to three cameras with fatigue, distraction, smoking and phone-use detection.
- CameraMatics 360: surround-view system for blind-spot visibility on large vehicles.
- CameraMatics AI: detects pedestrians, co-workers and cyclists near the vehicle.
- Safety Centre: inspections, driver scoring, training and compliance in one place.
- Asset and trailer tracking: trackers integrated into the same dashboard.
- CameraMatics ZERO: hardware-free travel and emissions tracking with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
3. Potential application
- Trucking and express delivery fleets in Vietnam that need driver fatigue alerts and incident video.
- Construction and utility vehicle fleets that require 360-degree visibility around heavy vehicles.
- Logistics companies that want safety scoring tied to driver training.
4. Benefits
- Lower accident risk through in-cab driver monitoring for fatigue, distraction, smoking and phone use.
- Video evidence supports incident review and claims handling.
- One subscription covers cameras, tracking and compliance tools.
- Hardware-free option (CameraMatics ZERO) tracks travel and emissions without new devices.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Fleet operators are adding AI video to cut accident costs and meet safety rules, and investors are funding the category. In Vietnam and Southeast Asia, stricter road-safety requirements and growing logistics fleets create similar demand for driver monitoring and camera evidence.
