1. Technology overview
carbmee GmbH was founded in early 2021 in Berlin by Dr. Christian Heinrich and Robin Spickers and now has offices in Berlin and Munich with more than 100 staff. It targets industrial enterprises that must make emissions traceable and auditable from bill of materials to board level under CSRD, CBAM and other EU rules.
The carbmee Environmental Intelligence System (EIS) combines Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon accounting across products, sites and suppliers with dynamic product carbon footprints, a supplier engagement model and compliance modules for CBAM, CSRD, EUDR and PPWR. An AI-native data foundation, a carbmee emissions database and carbmee Studio for AI-driven reports and dashboards sit on top, and an API embeds the data into core business systems. Further modules cover energy, circularity, ecodesign and a digital battery passport. Customers include Bosch, Siemens Energy, ZF, Maersk and Lufthansa Technik.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Carbon accounting: Scope 1, 2 and 3 across products, sites and suppliers.
- Dynamic PCF: product carbon footprints updated from real production and supplier data.
- Compliance suite: modules for CBAM, CSRD, EUDR and the EU packaging regulation PPWR.
- Supplier engagement: a structured model for collecting supplier emissions data.
- carbmee Studio: AI-driven custom reports and dashboards.
- API and database: embeds environmental data in business systems with a proprietary emissions database.
3. Potential application
A Vietnamese steel or aluminium exporter can calculate product footprints and prepare CBAM data for EU importers. A wood, coffee or rubber exporter can manage EUDR due diligence alongside emissions data. An auto parts maker supplying German OEMs can share dynamic PCFs with customers.
4. Benefits
Product-level footprints are calculated dynamically from real production and supplier data rather than static averages, which supports CBAM declarations and customer requests. One system covers CBAM, CSRD and EUDR, so compliance teams do not maintain separate tools. The company reports 85 Mt CO2e under management, and API embedding lets procurement and engineering teams see carbon data inside their existing systems.
5. Market trends & opportunities
With CBAM in its definitive phase from 2026 and EUDR obligations approaching, European buyers need verified product-level emissions and traceability data from Asian suppliers. Vietnamese exporters of steel, aluminium, wood, coffee and rubber are directly affected by these requirements.
6. Other information
