1. Technology overview
Eartheye Space is a satellite situational-awareness company founded in 2022 by Dr Shankar Sivaprakasam, with operations in Singapore and Australia. It addresses the difficulty of ordering and combining imagery from many separate satellite operators by offering one online marketplace for tasking and analysis, and raised USD 1.5 million in pre-seed funding.
The cloud platform lets users schedule new captures across hundreds of satellites (the founder cites 475-plus) from one interface, covering multispectral, SAR and InSAR, hyperspectral, full motion video, thermal, AIS, RF and greenhouse-gas sensors. A Feeds layer runs automated detection and classification, such as vessel tracking, oil spills, flood inundation, deforestation and mining change, and delivers results to GIS, APIs or custom workflows. Customers include defence, government, mining, plantation and environmental organisations.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Tasking as a Service: near real-time scheduling of satellite captures with multiple revisit options.
- Multi-sensor access: optical, SAR and InSAR, hyperspectral, thermal, FMV, AIS, RF and GHG data in one interface.
- Information as a Service: automated feeds for vessels, vehicles, floods, deforestation, mining and oil spills.
- Spectral indices: NDVI, moisture, water stress and fire indices for agriculture and environment.
- Flexible delivery: outputs to GIS, APIs or custom workflows with encrypted cloud hosting.
- Enterprise controls: multi-account hierarchy, user budgets and activity tracking.
3. Potential application
- Agencies and insurers in the Mekong Delta mapping flood extent with SAR imagery during the rainy season.
- Coffee, rubber and timber exporters monitoring deforestation to support EUDR due diligence.
- Port operators and fisheries authorities tracking vessels and detecting oil spills along the coast.
4. Benefits
- Single access point to many optical, radar and hyperspectral satellites instead of separate contracts with each operator.
- Transparent entry pricing: tasking from USD 1.50 per sq km and feeds from USD 100, with a Starter tier that has no minimum deposit.
- Automated feeds typically delivered within five minutes after data processing, reducing in-house analysis work.
- Tip-and-cue tasking and report generation for continuous monitoring in higher tiers.
5. Market trends & opportunities
The number of commercial imaging satellites keeps growing, but buyers in Southeast Asia still face fragmented access and limited analytics capacity. Singapore launched an Earth Observation Initiative in 2025, and governments, insurers, plantations and port operators in the region are turning to satellite monitoring for disasters, deforestation rules and maritime security.
