1. Technology overview
Exolaunch (EXOLAUNCH GmbH) is a Berlin company providing mission management, integration, launch and deployment services for small satellites, with expansion to the US and France. It helps satellite operators reach orbit reliably by booking rides, integrating satellites with rockets and separating them safely in space.
It buys capacity on SpaceX rideshares and other launchers and handles integration for each customer. Its hardware includes EXOpod CubeSat deployers for up to 16U, CarboNIX and Quadro separation systems for microsatellites, the new Quadro FleX for satellites up to 1,000 kg, the EXOtube and EXOport adapters and the EXObox sequencer. On Transporter-18 it deployed 46 customer satellites. Customers include Planet, Spire, ICEYE, OHB, NASA, DLR, CNES, the UAE Space Agency and Japan's Synspective.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Launch services: rideshare slots on SpaceX Transporter and Bandwagon missions.
- Integration services: mechanical and electrical integration of customer satellites.
- EXOpod deployers: Nova and Air models for CubeSats up to 16U.
- CarboNIX and Quadro: separation systems for microsatellites, including CarboNIX NEO and Quadro Versa.
- Quadro FleX and EXOtube: multi-point separation and adapters for payloads up to 1,000 kg.
- EXOport and EXObox: multi-satellite adapter and deployment sequencer.
3. Potential application
- Vietnamese satellite companies booking a Transporter slot and integration for their first micro-satellite.
- Universities deploying CubeSats with EXOpod deployers on a rideshare mission.
- Regional constellation operators signing multi-launch agreements to replenish satellites on schedule.
4. Benefits
- Secured SpaceX rideshare capacity through 2028 gives customers predictable launch access.
- In-house deployers and separation systems for CubeSats and microsatellites up to 1,000 kg.
- Reported 100% launch reliability and over 95% customer reuse.
- Full integration and mission management, from contract to deployment.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Rideshare missions have become the main route to orbit for small satellites, but slots are scarce and prices are rising, increasing the value of integrators with secured capacity. Asian operators such as Synspective sign multi-launch agreements, and new Southeast Asian programmes need the same reliable access.
6. Other information
Headquartered at Kemperplatz 1, Berlin, with expansion to the US and France. Acquired by investment firm EQT in June 2026; the Exolaunch brand continues. Bandwagon-5 was its 51st mission and tenth in 2026. In 2025 it secured SpaceX rides through 2028 and worked with UNOOSA on launch opportunities for Bolivia, Guatemala, Jordan and Nepal.
