1. Technology overview
FAIRMAT is a French deeptech company founded in 2020 by Benjamin Saada and headquartered in Paris. It addresses the growing volume of carbon fiber waste from aerospace, wind turbine and composite production, which is usually landfilled or burned, by turning it into second-generation materials for industry.
The company recovers carbon fiber composite scrap and converts it into FAIRMAT Chips, a modular recycled base material, which robots assemble into FairPly sheets and rolls with custom fiber angles and layouts on nonwoven, scrim or resin film backings. FairPly works with RTM, LCM, infusion, wet layup and prepreg hybridization, is stored at room temperature and ships with a certificate of conformity. Production runs in automated FairFactories using robotics, AI and the FairTrack digital twin, and the patented Infinity Recycling cold-plasma process recovers intact fiber. Customers include sports, mobility, construction, energy and aerospace manufacturers.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- FAIRMAT Chips: modular recycled carbon fiber base material made from aerospace and wind turbine waste.
- FairPly format: sheets or rolls with robotically placed chips at custom angles and densities.
- Process compatibility: works with RTM, LCM, infusion, wet layup and prepreg hybridization, with thermoset or thermoplastic resins.
- Room-temperature storage: no refrigeration needed during transport or storage.
- FairTrack traceability: proprietary software and digital twin with a certificate of conformity per delivery.
- Infinity Recycling: patented cold-plasma process that recovers intact carbon fiber for closed-loop use.
3. Potential application
Vietnamese factories making carbon bicycle frames, rackets, helmets or sports equipment for export brands could use FairPly to add recycled content without new tooling. Composite parts suppliers for drones, vehicles and construction panels could pilot FairPly in RTM or infusion lines, and wind farm operators could explore take-back of blade scrap.
4. Benefits
FAIRMAT reports up to 90% lower CO2 than conventional materials, 12x more material stability and 40% faster production. FairPly drops into existing composite lines without retooling or refrigerated storage, lowering logistics costs and giving unlimited shelf life. Every lot gets 100% in-process inspection and embedded traceability, which helps buyers document recycled content.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Carbon fiber use is growing in wind energy, aerospace, sporting goods and mobility, and so is the volume of production offcuts and end-of-life parts. Brands face pressure to cut product carbon footprints and prove recycled content, while Southeast Asian composite parts makers serving global sports and mobility brands are increasingly asked for lower-impact materials.
6. Other information
