GreptimeDB Unified Observability Database

Greptime Inc. was started in 2022 to bring observability data, which is usually split across separate systems for metrics, logs and traces, back into one database. The company lists offices in Sunnyvale, California and Spring, Texas, and open-sourced GreptimeDB in November 2022.

GreptimeDB is a columnar time-series and observability database written in Rust that uses object storage (S3, GCS, Azure Blob) as primary storage. It ingests data via OpenTelemetry, Prometheus Remote Write, Loki Push and Elasticsearch Bulk, and is queried with SQL and PromQL. It is offered as an Apache-2.0 open-source edition and an Enterprise edition with workload isolation, read replicas, automated repartitioning and high availability. Named users include OpenAI, Flash Express, Xiaomi, Li Auto, JD.com and OceanBase Cloud.
