1. Technology overview
Hyphen Deux is a fabless semiconductor design startup founded in 2022, with its R&D office in the Saigon Hi-Tech Park in Ho Chi Minh City. It aims to be a one-stop shop for ASIC and embedded system development, so that product companies can get custom silicon without building a full chip team in-house.
The company takes ASIC projects from specification through design, layout, verification and integration, then manages fabrication, packaging and shipping logistics. It sources IP cores from more than 30 vendors including Arm, Synopsys, Cadence, CoAsia and Dolphin Design. In October 2025 it announced the tape-out of HDx32U, its own general-purpose, low-power microcontroller for IoT and industrial applications.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Turnkey ASIC development: covers specification, design, layout, verification and integration.
- Manufacturing management: handles fabrication, packaging and shipping logistics with foundry and assembly partners.
- IP core sourcing: supplies IP from more than 30 vendors such as Arm, Synopsys and Cadence.
- Embedded systems: designs embedded and microcontroller systems around the chip.
- HDx32U microcontroller: general-purpose, energy-efficient MCU for IoT and industrial devices, taped out in 2025.
- Consulting: advises customers across the chip development flow.
3. Potential application
A Vietnamese smart meter or IoT device maker can commission a custom ASIC instead of combining several off-the-shelf chips. An industrial equipment company can evaluate the HDx32U microcontroller for control boards. A medical device startup can use the team to turn a prototype circuit into a dedicated chip.
4. Benefits
Gives device makers a single partner covering ASIC specification, design, verification, fabrication and packaging logistics. Access to IP cores from more than 30 vendors shortens the time needed to assemble a chip. An engineering team with over 15 years of experience works locally in Vietnam. The HDx32U microcontroller offers a domestically designed, low-power option for IoT and industrial products.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Vietnam has made semiconductors a national priority and is pushing domestic design of specialised chips for IoT, sensors and industrial control. Electronics and IoT device makers in the region increasingly want custom silicon to differentiate products and reduce dependence on off-the-shelf components, which raises demand for local ASIC design partners.
6. Other information
Founded in 2022 in Vietnam; R&D office on the 5th floor of the Sacom - Chip Sang building, Saigon Hi-Tech Park, Thu Duc, Ho Chi Minh City. CEO Nam Nguyen. Signed an MoU with Vietnam's National Innovation Center (NIC) in June 2025 on semiconductor development and workforce training.
One platform connecting startups, corporations, research institutions, regions and investors
