1. Technology overview
INSEE Vietnam (Siam City Cement (Vietnam) Limited) is the Vietnamese member of Thailand-listed Siam City Cement Public Company Limited and has operated in Vietnam since 1994. Headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City with one integrated plant at Hon Chong, four grinding stations and more than 700 employees, it supplies cement, mortars and tile adhesives while working to cut the carbon footprint of construction.
Its portfolio includes blended cements designed for lower emissions: INSEE Extra Durable, a slag-blended PCBBFS40-HS cement for durable, low-heat concrete in aggressive environments, and the Eco multi-application green cement for structural and finishing work, alongside ready-mix, precast and soil-stabilisation grades. INSEE cement carries the Singapore Green Building Council green label and an international EPD. The INSEE Ecocycle unit co-processes industrial waste in cement kilns. Customers are contractors, ready-mix and precast producers, developers and industrial waste generators.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- INSEE Extra Durable: PCBBFS40-HS blended cement meeting TCVN 7711:2013 and ASTM C1157 Type HS for aggressive environments.
- Eco multi-application cement: green cement for foundations, beams, columns and plastering with high early strength.
- Application grades: dedicated cements for ready-mix concrete, precast, masonry and soil stabilisation.
- Green credentials: Singapore Green Building Council green label and international EPD.
- INSEE Ecocycle: waste management and co-processing of industrial waste in cement kilns.
- Technical consultancy: mix design and on-site technical support for projects.
3. Potential application
Port and coastal infrastructure contractors in the Mekong Delta can use sulfate-resistant blended cement for marine structures. Developers of green-certified factories and offices can specify EPD-backed cement for LEED or EDGE credits. Industrial parks can send hazardous and non-hazardous waste to Ecocycle co-processing instead of landfill.
4. Benefits
Slag-blended Extra Durable cement lowers CO2 emissions and heat of hydration, reducing thermal cracking in mass concrete. Chloride and sulfate resistance extends the service life of marine, port and wastewater structures. The SGBC green label and international EPD help projects pursue LEED v4 and Green Mark credits. Ecocycle co-processing has handled more than 1.8 million tonnes of waste since 2007 for over 250 partners.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Cement accounts for most emissions from building materials in Vietnam, and the construction sector action plan targets green certification for a quarter of key domestic building materials by 2030. The launch of a domestic carbon exchange and rising demand for LEED, EDGE and LOTUS projects are pushing contractors toward blended, lower-clinker cements with verified EPDs.
6. Other information
Member of Siam City Cement Public Company Limited (SCCC), founded in Thailand in 1969 and listed in 1977, with operations in Indonesia, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. The former insee.com.vn domain now redirects to the SCCC Vietnam site. In 2026 it joined the Vietnam carbon exchange and partnered with SACA on construction waste recycling.
