1. Technology overview
IPercept is a Stockholm company spun out of KTH Royal Institute of Technology, which began commercialising its technology in 2022 under founder and CEO Karoly Szipka. It addresses a blind spot in machining: CNC machine tools whose bearings, ballscrews, guides and spindles wear out unseen until they cause scrap or unplanned stops.
A single patented device is mounted on the moving side of the machine in a couple of hours and configures itself, with no connection to the machine controller or the customer's IT network. Its Motion Pattern Method turns micrometre-scale motion into data, and the software reports component-level health, process load, spindle dynamic tests and utilisation, with a CNC Copilot assistant and recommended actions. New capabilities arrive as software updates. Customers include Airbus, Bosch, Volvo, Saab, Toyota, Epiroc and Scania.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Single patented device: mounts on the machine's moving side and self-configures in hours.
- Machine Health: component-level trends and alerts for bearings, ballscrews, guides and spindles.
- Process Load Monitoring: tracks machining loads to protect tools and quality.
- Spindle Dynamic Test: repeatable spindle condition checks.
- Utilization Tracking: measures actual machine use across brands and ages.
- CNC Copilot: AI assistant that explains wear and faults and suggests replacement plans.
3. Potential application
A Vietnamese precision machining supplier for aerospace or automotive can detect ballscrew and spindle wear before it causes scrap. A mould and die shop can track machine utilisation and load across older CNC machines. An electronics component maker can plan spindle replacements during scheduled downtime.
4. Benefits
Across more than 50 production sites, IPercept customers report 30% OEE improvement, 50% savings on maintenance parts and tools, 80% less unplanned downtime and 40% less scheduled maintenance. The first actionable insight arrives in seven days on average, and the system works on more than 50 machine brands without controller integration or an IT project.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Precision machining for aerospace, automotive and electronics supply chains is expanding in Southeast Asia, and Vietnam hosts a growing number of CNC job shops serving global buyers. Monitoring that needs no controller access or IT integration suits these mixed fleets of machines of different brands and ages, where downtime directly hits delivery commitments.
6. Other information
IPercept is based in Stockholm and spun out of KTH Royal Institute of Technology. In September 2026 it raised a US$16.5 million Series A led by Isogon Ventures and London-based 2150, with Luminar Ventures, RunwayFBU, J12 Venture and AI.Fund, to launch in the US. Its device is patented and in production use at defence and aerospace manufacturers.
