Kargo EV Trucking: Electric Truck Rental and Green Logistics

Kargo Technologies is a trucking and logistics technology company founded in 2018 and based in Jakarta, Indonesia, led by founder and CEO Tiger Fang. Kargo EV Trucking offers two models: fully managed green logistics using electric vehicles for first-, middle- and last-mile and door-to-door delivery, and self-drive electric truck rental bundled with charging. The fleet covers an electric blind van (1,000 kg, 42 kWh, 210 km), an electric pickup (1,020 kg, 220 km), a 2.5-tonne CDE truck and a 4.2-tonne CDD truck. The Kargo Electrify dashboard and the Kargo Nexus AI-enabled transport management system provide real-time tracking, battery and charging status, smart route planning, geofencing, cashless charging at partner stations and carbon footprint reports. Customers are FMCG, electronics and e-commerce shippers such as Danone Indonesia.

E-commerce and retail chains can outsource last-mile delivery to an electric fleet with emissions reporting. Logistics providers can use the TMS and fleet dashboard to manage mixed diesel and electric fleets.

Shippers can move to electric trucks without buying vehicles, choosing either managed delivery or self-drive rental with charging included. Kargo states savings of up to 30%, with electricity about 60% cheaper than fuel and simpler maintenance. Telematics records every charge, removing fuel theft risk, and precise carbon footprint reports support ESG disclosures.

Large shippers in Southeast Asia face net-zero targets but hesitate to buy electric trucks because of upfront cost, charging access and residual value risk. Truck-as-a-service and managed electric logistics are emerging in Indonesia and Malaysia, and Vietnamese FMCG and e-commerce firms face similar pressure to cut delivery emissions.
