1. Technology overview
Katonic AI was founded in 2020 in Sydney by Prem Naraindas, with solutions engineering teams in Mumbai and Dubai. It builds an enterprise AI platform designed to run inside a customer's or country's own infrastructure, so organizations can adopt generative AI and agents without sending data outside.
The platform, now at version 7.0, has three layers: Studio for building agents through guided, workflow or code paths; Workroom, an employee assistant with citations and audit logs; and Control Room for model deployment, GPU management, guardrails and per-agent cost tracking. Modules include an AI gateway to 2,600+ models, a knowledge engine, a governed MCP server and evaluation tools. It is Kubernetes-native and runs on-premises, in private cloud, air-gapped or hybrid. Deployments include ePLDT's Pilipinas AI, MODON in Saudi Arabia, e& in the UAE and the Government of Maharashtra.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Studio: builds agents via guided builder, AI builder, workflow designer, code or bring-your-own agent.
- Workroom: employee assistant using approved models with citations and audit logs.
- Control Room: manages model deployment, GPUs, guardrails and per-agent costs.
- AI Gateway: access to 2,600+ models from 140+ providers.
- Knowledge Engine: permission-aware enterprise search across 100+ sources.
- Agent Marketplace: 80+ pre-built agents with source code.
3. Potential application
Vietnamese telecom or data center operators can offer a sovereign AI platform on top of their GPU capacity for local enterprises. Ministries and state-owned enterprises can deploy air-gapped assistants over internal documents. Banks can build fraud and customer service agents while keeping data on-premises.
4. Benefits
Data stays inside the customer's environment with zero data egress, which suits regulators, banks and governments. Katonic targets production within about 90 days, citing the Pilipinas AI rollout. Per-agent cost tracking and guardrails give control over GenAI spending and risk. An open framework approach supports LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGen and LlamaIndex, plus 80+ ready-made agents with source code.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Sovereign AI is becoming a policy priority across Southeast Asia, with telecoms and governments building local GPU clouds and requiring that sensitive data stay in country. The Philippines' Pilipinas AI shows how telecom operators in the region package GPU capacity with an orchestration platform for local enterprises.
6. Other information
