1. Technology overview
Liquid Group is a MAS-licensed fintech headquartered in Singapore that focuses on cross-border digital payments. It operates the RoamQR network, takes part in Singapore's SGQR+ initiative, and also offers QR acceptance for Singapore retailers, wallet-as-a-service, real-time remittance and B2B global collections and payments.
RoamQR is an interoperability network that lets customers pay overseas with their usual local apps while merchants accept them through a single QR code. A QR translator reads different QR formats from e-wallets, national QR schemes and card-linked wallets, unified switching routes transactions between Singapore and international payment systems, and a harmonised rulebook sets operating rules for participating wallets, acquirers and schemes. Partners connect through an API. In July 2026 RoamQR was linked with Vietnam's NAPAS so that Singapore app users can pay at VietQRGlobal merchants in Vietnam.

A regional wallet operator can reach Vietnamese and Singapore merchants through one integration.
4. Benefits
Merchants can serve foreign visitors without displaying multiple QR codes or training staff on each wallet. Payment apps and acquirers gain access to merchants in more than nine Asian countries through one API integration rather than separate bilateral links. In the Vietnam corridor, payments are processed in real time with direct conversion between SGD and VND.
5. Market trends & opportunities
ASEAN central banks are linking national QR systems so travellers can pay with home apps, and NAPAS has extended cross-border QR connectivity to six countries. Vietnam's tourism recovery increases demand for networks that let foreign visitors pay local merchants in real time.
