1. Technology overview
MESI is a Slovenian developer and manufacturer of digital diagnostic devices based in Ljubljana and led by CEO Jakob Susteric and CTO Tomo Krivc. It addresses the time lost in clinics and hospitals when staff juggle separate cabled devices and transcribe results by hand into patient records.
MESI mTABLET is a medical tablet that pairs with wireless measurement modules, including 12-lead ECG, spirometry, ankle-brachial and toe-brachial index, pulse wave velocity, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, temperature, 6-minute walk test and the new Vitals module. Modules can be added or removed over time, a Protocol App guides staff step by step, and results are stored in the patient record and sent to the EHR. The system is used by general practices, clinics, hospitals, assisted care and mobile or home-visit teams.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Modular platform: wireless modules for ECG, spirometry, ABI, TBI, PWV, blood pressure, SpO2 and temperature on one tablet.
- 12-lead ECG: wireless resting ECG module that can be added to the same tablet.
- mTABLET Vitals: spot-check blood pressure, SpO2, heart rate and contact or contactless temperature.
- NEWS2 scoring: automated early warning score to flag patient deterioration.
- Protocol App: step-by-step guidance and clinical recommendations during examinations.
- EHR connectivity: results stored automatically and transferred to electronic health records via MESI mRECORDS.
3. Potential application
Private clinic chains in Vietnam could equip general practitioners with mTABLET for ECG, spirometry and ABI screening in one visit. Corporate health check-up providers could take the wireless kit to factories and offices. Hospital wards could use mTABLET Vitals for NEWS2-based spot checks recorded directly into the HIS.
4. Benefits
Combines up to ten diagnostic measurements on one wireless tablet, reducing the number of devices a clinic must buy, maintain and train staff on. Automatic storage and EHR transfer remove manual transcription errors. Spot-check Vitals calculates the NEWS2 early warning score to flag deterioration. The company reports more than 30,000 customers worldwide, and a UK practice partner reported shorter appointments and faster results.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Primary care is taking on more chronic disease screening, such as peripheral artery disease, COPD and arrhythmia, which pushes clinics toward compact, connected point-of-care diagnostics linked to electronic records. Vietnam's grassroots health stations and private clinic chains are digitising records and need affordable multi-test equipment.
6. Other information
MESI, Ltd. is headquartered at Stegne 11A, Ljubljana, Slovenia; devices are developed and produced in the EU. The company says it meets MDR, MDSAP and FDA requirements. It promoted its devices in Vietnam at Pharmed & Healthcare in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam Medi-Pharm Expo in Hanoi under the VNhealth project, and reported selling its ABPI MD device in Vietnam.
